Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's is a Japanese anime series that began airing in Japan on April 2, 2008.

It is the successor to the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime. It was then followed by the Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL anime. It also had a spinoff manga series. This anime series was acquired by 4Kids Entertainment for broadcasting in the United States on September 13, 2008. On June 1, 2009; Cartoon Network began airing Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's episodes weekly. The story focuses around characters playing a card game called Duel Monsters. This series introduces Synchro Monsters in the Official Trading Card Game. A new method of dueling with motorcycle like vehicles called Duel Runners are used, and the duelists engage in games called Turbo Duels. The show is set in the distant future, where the upper class population live in New Domino City, and the lower class in a remote island where Domino's sewage is transported, Satellite. Yusei Fudo, the 18 year old main character, lives in the Satellite and makes it his objective to reach his rival Jack Atlas, who lives in Domino. The series focuses on the five Signers, people embodied with a mark of one of the legendary Five Dragons, their conflict with the Dark Signers, and the Three Emperors of Yilaster.

Plot

In the Japanese version, the beginning of the episode started off with a hologram of a King card and the back of a Duel Monsters card rotating back and forth. In the English version, it begins with zooming into the Kaiba corp building.

An announcer introduces the King of Turbo Duels to an excited crowd to which Jack Atlas then rides out onto the track, announcing his arrival to his fans. In the meantime, Yusei Fudo rides through the deserted and destroyed ruins of a subway.

Throughout New Domino City, the MC is announcing Jack's current Duel through various means to anxious audiences. Back at the track, both Jack and Hunter Pace begin the Duel by activating their "Speed World" Field Spell Cards, turning the stadium a bright lilac color upon activation, amazing the audience in the process. The MC explains the rules of Turbo Duels to the audience, informing them that due to "Speed World" being active, ordinary Spell Cards cannot be activated and that Duelists must rely on their Speed Counters. The Duel then begins with the MC announcing that Hunter takes the first move. As time passes, Hunter is shown to have an advantage with "Skull Flame". However Jack makes a quick comeback, easily Synchro Summoning his "Red Dragon Archfiend" and attacking "Skull Flame", winning Jack the Duel. In the meantime, Yusei's Duel Runner's engine has failed, causing it to break down. The MC announces Jack's victory to the audience, stating how he is still undefeated. Yusei then looks up through a crevasse in the road above at the moon. (In the English version, Yusei he says in his head "I'm comin' for ya Jack and this time I'm gonna settle the score. In the Japanese version, he didn't say, anything).

Yusei pushes his Duel Runner back to his hideout to see his friends Nervin, Blitz and Tank are watching an interview with Jack after his current Duel on Yusei's television. The MC questions Jack on an instance in the duel where he struggled against Hunter's Trap Cards. In response, Jack snatches the microphone off of him and replies that if he went full-throttle at the beginning and defeated Hunter easily, the Duel would not have been entertaining for his audience, which received positive feedback from his fans who cheered. As his friends are fixated with the interview, Yusei revs his Duel Runner's engine, causing them to quickly turn the television off and talk to him. Tank apologizes for interrupting Yusei in his own home.

Yusei's friends inform him about Jack's Duel and how easily he toyed with Hunter. Yusei responds by saying he must have been a weak Duelist. They then question Yusei about his previous Duel Runner which Jack stole three years prior. Their conversation is swiftly interrupted by Rally Dawson, who excitedly runs down to the hideout, asking his friends for Yusei's whereabouts. He then runs to Yusei and hands him a brand new Duel Runner chip. Blitz questions Rally about where he found it and Rally responds that he found it among the garbage in Satellite, but is not believed. Yusei then programs the new chip into his Duel Runner and tests it out, amazing his friends with how much it powered up his Duel Runner.

Just as Rally tells Yusei to try it out, Sector Security appears above the hideout, telling Rally to come out as he stole the chip. They also explain that his marker allows them to track him where ever he goes. This causes Yusei's friends to begin arguing, but Yusei quickly intervenes, using his marker jammer to prevent Security from tracking Rally so they can escape whilst he draws them away on his Duel Runner. As Yusei exits, he is quickly followed by several Security vehicles. Whilst driving, Yusei is amazed by the speed output of his Duel Runner thanks to the new chip. He leads the Security officers to a desolate tunnel entrance. One officer, Tetsu Trudge steps out of his car and questions Yusei on who he is and where he got his Duel Runner from, to which Yusei proposes a Duel. Trudge questions Yusei on whether or not he even has cards to which Yusei shows him his Deck and slots it into his Duel Runner. Yusei states that if he loses, he will go with him willingly. The other officer protests, but Trudge tells him to be quiet and agrees to Yusei's offer. The other officer then tells his colleagues that it is no use and they leave. Yusei tells Trudge that even though he is an officer, he respects him as he is a Duelist to which Trudge calls Yusei "trash". They then both get onto their Duel Runners, prepare "Speed World" and drive off into the tunnel.

The duel begins with Trudge Normal Summoning "Assault Dog" and Setting one face-down card, ending his turn. Yusei then begins his move, with both of their Speed Counters increasing to one. He Summons "Speed Warrior" which dashes forward from Yusei's Duel Runner. Trudge mocks Yusei for Summoning a weak monster as it cannot defeat his "Assault Dog". However Yusei speeds up, with the effect of "Speed Warrior" activating, doubling its ATK to 1800. Trudge again insults Yusei by calling him "trash", which annoys him before attacking Trudge's "Assault Dog", inflicting 600 damage. Trudge Special Summons another "Assault Dog" from his Deck as one was destroyed by battle. Yusei Sets one card and ends. Trudge Releases his "Assault Dog" to Summon "Handcuffs Dragon". He attempts to attack Yusei's "Speed Warrior", but Yusei responds with "Scrap-Iron Scarecrow" in an attempt to negate the attack. Although Trudge is surprised, he was prepared and activates "Wiretap", negating the effect of "Scrap-Iron Scarecrow" and returning it to Yusei's Deck. He then continues his assault with "Handcuff's Dragon", which traps and destroys "Speed Warrior" within its cuffs. Trudge then turns around, and mocks Yusei's Deck whilst overtaking him. Yusei follows him, turning to defensive tactics, Summoning "Sonic Chick" in Defense Position and Setting 2 cards.

Trudge begins his turn by discarding "Tactical Espionage Expert", "Guard Dog" and another copy of "Assault Dog" to Special Summon his "Montage Dragon" whose ATK becomes 3000, shocking Yusei. Trudge orders "Handcuffs Dragon" to attack "Sonic Chick", crushing it with its cuffs. Trudge then skids across the track, ordering "Montage Dragon" to attack Yusei directly with "Power Collage", decreasing his Life Points to 100 and Speed Counters to 1. Trudge swerves around a corner, insulting Yusei and his Deck again. Yusei closes his eyes and believes that his Deck will help him comeback, drawing "Junk Synchron" in the process. He Summons "Junk Synchron" and Trudge is shocked to see that he owns a Tuner monster. Yusei then activates "Graceful Revival", resurrecting "Speed Warrior". He tunes his two monsters to Synchro Summon "Junk Warrior". Yusei then activates a Speed Spell Card, "Vision Wind", reviving "Speed Warrior" causing the ATK of "Junk Warrior" to increase to 3200. Trudge is twice more shocked to see someone from Satellite with a Synchro Monster and Speed Spell.

Yusei orders "Junk Warrior" to attack "Handcuffs Dragon", to which Trudge laughs as "Handcuffs Dragon" decreases its ATK to 1400 and prevents it from changing its battle position. Trudge tells Yusei that his victory is ensured as the two drive onto parallel walkways. However, Yusei responds with his "Equip Shot" Trap Card, attaching "Handcuffs Dragon" to "Montage Dragon" and forcing it and "Junk Warrior" to battle which results in Trudge losing. Trudge's Duel Runner stops, venting steam up into his face. (In the English version when Trudge/Ushio lost to Yusei he said, "There goes my promotion. I guess I'm going back to being a duel runner meter man."). He deprecates himself for losing to that "Filthy scum". Yusei then drives up to him and tells him "Any card, so long as it exists, has the potential to be useful. Someone who'd reject cards by calling them trash like you doesn't have the right to call himself a Duelist." In the English version, Yusei says to Trudge. "You mentioned earlier how you wanted to teach me a lesson, how about I leave with this; Don't underestimate us Satellites or our Decks what you see is weakness is what truly makes us strong." Then he ran away and said tell Jack thanks for the chip.

He then drives off, leaving an angry Trudge behind who vows to crush Yusei. Yusei enters a desolate road overlooking a bright New Domino City in the distance. He gets off of his Duel Runner and stares at the city before saying "I'm coming for you Jack". In the Japanese version, Yusei says "Get ready Domino City, I'm coming."

In the Japanese version, the episode begins with a flashback of Yusei and Jack dueling. In the English version the episode begins with a view of the Satellite.

A flashback, two years prior to 5D's current events shows Yusei dueling Jack. Jack mocks Yusei for thinking that he can defeat the King. Yusei reacts by recklessly attacking Jack's "Mad Archfiend" with "Junk Warrior", only to fall into Jack's trap, "Shadow Spell". Jack then attacks "Junk Warrior", defeating Yusei in the process. Yusei falls to the floor and punches it out of anger. Blitz, Tank, Nervin and Rally are shocked that he lost. Jack then approaches Yusei and tells him that he can't win with monsters alone.

Back to the normal timeline, Jack is shown observing Satellite through the window in his penthouse, he then looks at the "Stardust Dragon" card in his hand. Rex Goodwin arrives and questions Jack on why he's thinking about the past to which Jack launches the card into his deck, with it perfectly wedging in the center, surprising Goodwin. Jack explains the humilation he felt having lived in such a place and suggests it should be wiped off of the face of the earth. But Goodwin states that without Satellite, New Domino City wouldn't prosper as the civillians of Satellite recycle the trash sent from New Domino. He then states that he believes that Jack being from the Satellite was a test from God.

Meanwhile, back in the Satellite in an abandoned and destroyed subway, Rally times Yusei on his Duel Runner. Rally excitedly screams that Yusei has beat his best time and that breaking through the pipeline should be extremely easy for him. Yusei asks him to test him again before speeding down the tunnel again. At the same time, Blitz, Tank and Nervin have just finished working in a recycling plant are are exiting, carrying several boxes full of trash. Seeing this, Lenny sticks his leg out, tripping Tank over in the process. In the English version, he corrects Tank saying he was tripped and didn't fall and since he marked his shoes, Uryu suggests that he buy him new ones.

Upon seeing this, Blitz and Nervin drop their boxes to assist Tank as he was injured in the process. Lenny jokes about how it was an accident as his legs are so long and mocks the three from being from Satellite, to which his goons Lug and Larry laugh at. Blitz sarcastically replies about how Lenny has a Criminal mark which angers him and as a response he grabs Blitz by his shirt collar and punches him. The three are then shown back at Yusei's hideout bruised and being tended to by Rally. Blitz is angered by the fact that even though he's been banished to the Satellite, he still mocks Satellite-borns for being such.

He then questions Yusei about the officer he dueled and that any self respecting Duelist ought to uphold the outcome of a match, to which Yusei said "I wouldn't call him a Duelist! But for a dog of the establishment, it seems he can accept his losses." Trudge is then shown receiving his "Special Pursuit Deck" from a Security chief who informs Trudge that he should put his job before dueling and that he can use that deck to capture Yusei. Trudge thanks him and asks a Security clerk to inform him when Yusei's Duel Runner shows up again. While working on his Duel Runner, Yusei discusses his plan of sneaking into New Domino City to reclaim his "Stardust Dragon" and Duel Runner that Jack stole.

His friends reminisce about the first time they saw a Turbo Duel and because of it, Yusei was inspired to build his own Duel Runner. They then remember the first time Yusei Synchro Summoned his "Stardust Dragon" and discuss whether or not Jack was plotting all of that time against the three of them. Yusei then states that his Duel Runner has past all expectations and ran through the escape simulation perfectly.

Just then, Lenny, Larry and Lug arrive and insult the group, stating that people from the Satellite shouldn't own such luxuries. Lenny then suggests that Yusei give him the Duel Runner if he doesn't want his friends to be beaten up again.

Yusei then proposes a duel to which Lenny agrees to. In the Japanese version, Yusei decided to accept Uryu's challenge, since the latter scoffed at their dreams. In the English version, Yusei says bullys never learn unless you stand up to them.

Yusei takes his Turbo Deck out of his Deck holder and swaps it with his Ground Deck from a deck box on his belt. He then detaches his Duel Disk from his hybrid Duel Runner which Lenny compliments him on. His friends protest, but Yusei ignores them. The group then walk further down the subway and begin their duel. Lenny begins his turn by Normal Summoning "Chainsaw Insect" in Attack Position. Yusei's friends are shocked at how powerful it is for a Level 4 monster.

Lenny then continues by activating "Retribution of the Ant Lion", explaining how if their monsters are destroyed, they'll take 800 damage. Yusei's friends wonder on Lenny's strategy which he replies that he uses a "Power Insect Deck". In the Japanese version, Yusei was not afraid of insects. But in the English version, Yusei is afraid of bugs.

Yusei begins his turn by Normal Summoning "Shield Warrior" in Defense Position and setting 1 card. Lenny mocks Yusei for his defensive tactics then Normal Summons "Pinch Hopper" and activating "Insect Costume", adding "Doom Dozer" from his deck to his hand, destroying "Pinch Hopper" in the process. This triggers "Retribution of the Ant Lion", inflicting 800 damage to Lenny. This shocks him as he doesn't know what inflicted the damage to him. Blitz replies that it was due to the effect of his own card. Lenny continues on by using the effect of "Pinch Hopper" to Special Summon "Metal Armored Bug" from his hand. Nervin comments that the monster is huge. Lenny states that it isn't all he has in store for Yusei. He Banishes "Insect Knight" and "Pinch Hopper" from his Graveyard to Special Summon "Doom Dozer" from his hand.

He begins his assault by attacking "Shield Warrior" with "Chainsaw Insect", but Yusei activates his set "Scrap-Iron Scarecrow" to negate the attack, shocking Lenny. It then sets itself back on Yusei's field. Lenny continues by destroying "Shield Warrior" with "Metal Armored Bug" with "Retribution of the Ant Lion" inflicting 800 damage. He finally assaults Yusei directly with "Doom Dozer", dropping his Life Points to 400. He then mocks Yusei as he can't stand up to his "Power Insect Deck". Yusei calmly begins his turn, Normal Summoning "Speed Warrior" in Attack Position.

He then activates "Double Summon", additionally Normal Summoning "Junk Synchron", also in Attack Position. Yusei's friends cheer as they know what Yusei is planning. Yusei then tunes "Junk Synchron" with "Speed Warrior" to Synchro Summon "Junk Warrior". This shocks Lenny as someone from the Satellite owns a Synchro Monster, but his friends cheer him on regardless. Yusei then equips "Junk Warrior" with "Fighting Spirit", increasing it's ATK by 300 per monster on Lenny's field; therefore it goes up to 3200 ATK. Yusei then activates "Domino Effect" and attacks "Chainsaw Insect".

He then chains the effect of "Domino Effect", sending his set "Scrap-Iron Scarecrow" and "Fighting Spirit" to the Graveyard to cause "Chainsaw Insect" to topple over into "Doom Dozer" which then falls onto "Metal Armored Bug", destroying all of Lenny's monsters in the process. This chains the ability of "Retribution of the Ant Lion", decreasing Lenny's Life Points to 0. Yusei then walks over to Lenny, and tells him about the lesson that Jack taught him how duels can only be won by utilizing all types of cards with one another. Lenny compliments Yusei's dueling abilities and tells him that the next time they duel, he won't be so lucky. In the English version, even though Yusei agrees to duel Lenny again. He tells him not to use a insect deck again.

Jack is then shown racing around a duel track. He suddenly stops and looks up at the sky. Rex walks over and wonders what Jack is up to. Jack tells him that the moon is clear, just like the night when he escaped from the Satellite to New Domino City. Yusei is also shown observing the moon through a crevasse in the road above.

While preparing to leave for New Domino, Blitz, Tank, Nervin and Rally all say their goodbyes to Yusei, with Rally also giving Yusei the "Turbo Booster" card as a good luck charm to help him blast through the pipeline. In the Japanese version, "Oneshot Booster" ("Turbo Booster") was Rally's favorite card. In the English version, "Turbo Booster" had belonged to Rally's father. Yusei thanks him and tells them he'll be back before speeding off down the abandoned subway, with Rally shouting "good luck" as he races off.

Yusei exits the abandoned subway by shooting out of a crevasse in the road above. Detecting Yusei's presence on a monitor, Hanson, a Sector Security clerk alerts Trudge to his whereabouts to which Trudge races off to his Duel Runner, telling the clerk to keep track of Yusei before vowing to crush Yusei to bits. In the meantime, Rally, Blitz, Tank and Nervin race toward a rooftop and monitor Yusei via a tracker on a laptop. Trudge manages to catch up to Yusei and smashes into his Duel Runner in an attempt to slow him down. However Yusei speeds off, smashing through a barrier and then jumps over another gateway with Trudge following in haste, ordering the clerk to open the gate for him. After the two enter a secluded and clear pathway within the factory, Trudge states that it'll be a perfect place for him to test his new deck before imposing "Speed World" on Yusei's Duel Runner, forcing him into duel mode.

As the duel begins, Trudge takes the first move, Normal Summoning "Gate Blocker" in Defense Position. It appears in front of Yusei's Duel Runner, slowing him down. Trudge then sets one card and allows Yusei to take his move. As Yusei begins his move, his Speed Counters don't increase which shocks him. Trudge explains that it's due to the ability of his "Gate Blocker" card. Yusei then thinks of the reason why he's attempting to escape then Normal Summons "Speed Warrior". Trudge mocks Yusei for summoning something that can't damage his "Gate Blocker". Yusei then remembers Rally and Special Summons "Turbo Booster". He then orders "Speed Warrior" to attack "Gate Blocker", using "Turbo Booster's" ability to destroy it, taking 200 damage in the process. Yusei then thanks Rally for the help he's provided before driving down into the Pipeline. Trudge mocks Yusei's plan before activating "Broken Blocker" which allows him to Special Summon two more "Gate Blockers" from his deck as one was destroyed. Yusei then sets 2 cards and ends his turn. Blitz argues with Rally about how Yusei may not be able to make it as Trudge is slowing him down from the simulation practice.

Trudge then Normal Summons "Gonogo" and proceeds to attack and destroy "Speed Warrior". He tells Yusei he has no chance of escape as he's blocked on both sides. Yusei then takes his turn, Normal Summoning "Junk Synchron". He then activates his set "Graceful Revival", reviving "Speed Warrior". He then tunes them both to Synchro Summon "Junk Warrior". Yusei's friends cheer as Yusei summoned his ace. Yusei then destroys "Gonogo" with "Junk Warrior". Trudge mocks Yusei's efforts. He then draws and Normal Summons his "Jutte Fighter" which shocks Yusei as he owns a Tuner Monster. Trudge insults Yusei for thinking he's the only one who can Synchro Summon. He then tunes one of his "Gate Blockers" with "Jutte Fighter" to Synchro Summon "Goyo Guardian". "Goyo Guardian" proceeds to attack and destroy "Junk Warrior" with Trudge using it's effect to revive "Junk Warrior" on his own field. He then piles on the pressure by activating two "Speed Spell - Sonic Buster" to inflict two intervals of 1400 Effect damage to Yusei. Trudge then mocks Yusei from being from Satellite again, stating that he has no hope for escape. Yusei then says "All you ever say is 'scum' over and over again, don't you know any other words?", then Normal Summoning "Nitro Synchron". Trudge wonders what Yusei is up to as he has no other Synchro Material Monsters to which Yusei then activates "Speed Spell - Dash Pilfer".

Trudge is shocked as Yusei shouldn't be able to activate it as he has no Speed Counters due to "Gate Blocker", however he looks at his Duel Runner monitor and sees that Yusei has 4. He then looks at Yusei's Graveyard and sees that he had used "Slip Stream" when Trudge activated "Speed Spell - Sonic Buster". Trudge then sees the exit to the Pipeline and realises Yusei's intentions. Trudge speeds up in an attempt to catch up to Yusei, but Yusei tunes his "Nitro Synchron" with "Junk Warrior" to Synchro Summon "Nitro Warrior". Yusei then explains that as he activated a Spell Card this turn, "Nitro Warrior" gains 1000 ATK. It then proceeds to punch "Goyo Guardian", destroying it and inflicting 1000 damage to Trudge. Yusei then explains "Nitro Warrior's" secondary effect, switching "Gate Blocker" to Attack Position and forcing it to battle with "Nitro Warrior", making Yusei win the duel.

As Yusei wins, the timer goes to 0, meaning that trash will flow through the Pipeline. Yusei then uses several Duel Runner tactics to avoid the debris and manages to skid under the escape gate before it closes, leaving Trudge to be crushed by the debris behind him. Blitz, Nervin, Tank and Rally watch the laptop anxiously as the marker indicating Yusei's location isn't beeping. They wonder if he got through, and then notice it beeping again. Yusei then proceeds to exit the Pipeline, only to see Jack stood on a highway above his location. Jack laughs and says "it's been a while".

After crossing the pipeline, Yusei arrives in New Domino. Here he meets Jack. In the Japanese version, Jack asks how long has it been, to which Yusei replies, "Two years"; Jack admires Yusei's new Duel Runner, saying he's built quite the Duel Runner, that's not surprising; Yusei reminds Jack that he stole the first one he built, after all; Jack smiles saying that a King never lets a chance slip by; Yusei asks where it is and Jack tells him it's obviously already broken; Yusei clenches a fist; He's slightly upset but calmly asks about his card; Jack holds up the card "Stardust Dragon" and Yusei tells him it was part of their friends in the Satellite and their dreams; Jack looks down upon Yusei for still pondering on that "childish nonsense"; Now that he is King he no longer needs the card, he says.

In the Engish version; Jack says the he hopes Trudge wasn't too much on an inconvenience, he just doing what he's paying him to do; He then asks what brings Yusei here; With a tone of demand, Yusei replies that he wants his "Stardust Dragon" card back; Jack asks about the Runner, but Yusei hotly responds that he doesn't need it and asks how its running; Jack states that Yusei never could never let go of anything; Yusei replies that he never was one to forgive and forget; Jack tries Yusei's patience asking if he want to catch up on old times, as Yusei continues to demand "Stardust Dragon"; Jack holds up the card; Disgusted, Yusei asks how could he to which replies that he couldn't leave it in the hands of losers; Not satisfied, Yusei reminds him how it was the only hope their friends had of getting out of the Satellite; It was meant to help them all; It certainly helped him, Jack says.

Jack then throws it down to Yusei. But Yusei stares at the card and shuts his eyes for a second. In the Japanese version, Jack asks what's wrong and tells him to put it back in his Deck. In the English version, he asks if Yusei's having second thoughts. Yusei throws it back. In the Japanese version, he says that he'll get it back in a Duel and that he bets Jack had the same thing in mind. In the English version, Yusei says that he wants the card, but he also wants Jack to pay for what he did and when he beats him, he'll take the card back. Jack agrees and they head to a Duel stadium.

On the way Jack shows Yusei the skyscrapers of New Domino. In the Japanese version, he tells Yusei how the city never sleeps and continues to grow; And that he will continue to rule as King. In the English version, he describes how it's a step up from the Satellite.

Meanwhile Zigzix energetically gives a presentation to Rex Goodwin about the benefits of Ener-D. In the Japanese version; He pauses to catch his breath and Goodwin calmly explains that he understands his love of Momentum, but insists that he get to the point. He sent for them that late at night because he had something important to tell them. In the English version; Goodwin gets impatient with Zigzix and tells him to get to the point before he decides to replace him. Zigzix shows him a screen and says that at Kaiba Corporation's Ener-D Research and Development Department, they had finaly completed the New Domino City Absolute Momentum Project.

In the Japanese version, he says; This will give New Domino the mightiest of all energies and wisdom of god himself...; He is interrupted by Goodwin grunting and greatly tones down his excitement and says Goodwin has all the details by looking at the project documentation. In the English version; He says it will make them the masters of the universe, before correcting himself and saying it will make Goodwin the master of the universe. They are interrupted by Mina who whispers something to Goodwin, causing him to have to leave Zigzix early.

Mina informs Goodwin about Jack and Yusei's encounter. Goodwin says that it cannot become known that Jack was in contact with a Satellite resident, it would be bad for his reputation. Mina begins to tell Goodwin what happened, but he scolds her for making excuses. In the Japanese version; when Mina said she tried to stop Jack, Goodwin seizes Mina by the jaw and she apologized.

Together they meet Lazar who shows them a live recording of Yusei and Jack meeting at the Duel Stadium. In the Japanese version; Lazar asks if they should contact Security but Goodwin says it hasn't come to that yet. In the English version; Lazar points out how it's illegal to duel against Satellite residents; Goodwin says he wants to see how Jack handles this, but keep the guards on standby.

In the Japanese version: Jack tells Yusei that as King he must defend his throne and attacking is much easier than defending; He adds "Stardust Dragon" to his Deck saying that Yusei's chance to get it back is as good as lost and Yusei has made a foolish choice. In the English version; he describes the stadium being full of fans chanting your name and tells Yusei that's not something he's going to experience, because after this Duel, only his loser friends in the Satellite will be cheering them, provided they don't leave him when he returns without "Stardust Dragon"; He continues to tease Yusei about how his friends will react after he tells them he had the card, but gave it back to get a chance to duel Jack; He finally insists Yusei will regret coming here, after he beats him with his own card, as he slides it into his Deck.

In the English version: While they duel, after Yusei makes a move, he reminds Jack how he used the save move to save him from Sector Security before; Jack tells Yusei that was a setup, to get him closer to taking his Duel Runner and the "Stardust Dragon" card. With Yusei on the offense and Jack on the defense, the Duel seems evenly matched until Jack summons his "Multiple Piece Golem" and uses its effect to swarm the field with smaller "Golem" monsters. He also Summons Tuner monsters, and uses them and the "Golem" monsters to bring out "Stardust Dragon" and "Red Dragon Archfiend" at the same time.

Jack and Yusei continue their Turbo Duel while Goodwin, Mina and Lazar watch in secret. Jack has Summoned "Stardust Dragon". Yusei is awestruck. In the Japanese version; Jack asks him if he can feel his soul tremble or should he call him a hapless clown who is merely frightened before the presence of the King and his Dragons; Yusei swears to get back Stardust. In the English version; Jack says Yusei should have taken "Stardust Dragon" while he had the chance, but instead tried to show he could hold his own against the "Master of Faster".

In the Japanese version; Jack compares Yusei putting his monsters in defense mode as a lack of drive that he had a moment ago. Jack also sees this as a way of Yusei waiting for Stardust Dragon.

In the English version; Jack compares Yusei putting his monsters in Defense Position, to when Yusei and his friends used to get bullied by a group of people who threaten them to take their lunch money; back then, not fighting back would get you a black eye and an empty stomach.

In the Japanese version, after Yusei Summons "Sonic Chick", Jack comments that the creature. Is a poor looking monster. However Yusei tells him that Sonic Chick can't be destroyed by monsters withe attack power of 1900 or higher. He also tells Jack that Sonic Chick is a monster that is best suited for a situation like this.

In the English version, after Yusei Summons "Sonic Chick", Jack comments that this is just like back at school, Yusei is still hanging around with chickens. Yusei says that at least he knows "this chicken" isn't going to double cross him and scurry away in the middle of the night.

In the Japanese version, Jack tells Yusei no matter how many tricks he play, in the face of absolute power. He can do nothing more but realize his own incompetent.

In the English version, Jack asks Yusei if he hypothetically wins, what does he plan on doing? Jack then tells Yusei that he, himself, will win and when he does, he'll press a button on his Duel Runner that will alert Sector Security, who will come and ship Yusei off to the facility.

In the Japanese version; After Jack Tributes "Stardust Dragon" to prevent "Red Dragon Archfiend" from also being destroyed, he says that it's such a splendid tragedy that Yusei personally requiem Stardust's release.

In the English version; After Jack Tributes "Stardust Dragon" to prevent "Red Dragon Archfiend" from also being destroyed, he says this is like how he stepped on Yusei in order to get out of Satellite.

When Jack revives "Stardust Dragon", Yusei uses "Harmonia Mirror" to gain control of it. Mina and Lazar are surprised by this.

Yusei reminds Jack of something he once told Yusei, that a duelist cannot win with Monsters, Spell or Trap Cards alone. "Only with them joined up. What you need most of all to amass yourself victory is right here." He pointed to his heart. Yusei tells Jack he never said what that was, but he has found the answer. Jack asks to hear the answer and Yusei proudly replies "The soul of a duelist who believes in all of their cards!" It's that very soul that called "Stardust" back to him.

In the Japanese version; Lazar says that with those facing one another, he is quite looking forward to the outcome... In the English version; he says this Satellite doesn't know when to quit; perhaps he should send in Security to end the Duel... He is interrupted by Goodwin, gently waving his hand as an indication to keep silent.

In the Japanese version; Jack laughs and tells Yusei that he is playing the role of the clown quite nicely. In the English version; he says there is no way Yusei can beat him no matter how many "Stardust Dragons" he has on his side of the field. As "Stardust Dragon" attacks "Red Dragon Archfiend" both players arms begin to throb.

Meanwhile Zigzix and a few others begin to witness a device they're viewing go out of control. Zigzix notices the high amount of Ener-D is going out of control and reports it to Goodwin. Goodwin tells him to make a report of what's happening. In the Japanese version; Goodwin acts calmly towards to Zigzix. In The English version, he is annoyed with him.

Jack and Yusei continue to duel trying to have their dragon destroy the other, while protecting their own. Both players arms continue to throb as they duel. Lazar comments on Jack's dueling: In the Japanese version, he says that for King, his tactics are desperate. In the English version, he says that his moves are risky even for someone like Jack Atlas.

As the dragons collide another mysterious red dragon appears. Even Goodwin is shocked by its appearance. Jack and Yusei's eyes glow red and Zigzix's machine goes out of control, while Zigzix fills with excitement. Jack and Yusei continue to duel after the Crimson Dragon appears and shakes the Kaiba Dome violently, and Jack activates Speed Spell - The End of the Storm, and Yusei chains Meteor Stream, meaning that Yusei would've won the duel, but both Duel Runners spin wildly out of control. There is a blackout in New Domino and the room where Goodwin, Mina and Lazar are switches to backup power. The dragon soars above the Stadium spreading its wings to form a symbol before disappearing.

After getting up after their crashes, both riders stand up and notice their dragon birthmarks (Jack's birthmark being the wings birthmark and Yusei's birthmark being the tail) are now glowing on their arms. Yusei describes the glowing birthmark as having a burning feeling. Meanwhile, power levels have dropped at the Ener-D research lab and Zigzix has greatly calmed down. He regretfully informs Goodwin that the Ener-D generator has broken and apologizes. Goodwin tells him to fix it.

Yusei and Jack's dragon birthmarks fade as Yusei is confronted by Sector Security, who have come to arrest him for trespassing in the Stadium.

Meanwhile Yusei sits on a chair under a spotlight in an almost bare courtroom. The judge sits on a raised platform. In the Japanese version, Yusei's hands are cuffed behind his back.

In the Japanese version; The judge announces that Yusei's Duel Runner and Deck are being confiscated by the authorities; Yusei looks up, clearly angry; The judge tells him that Satellite residents trespassing into New Domino City is a serious offense, so the Public Security Maintenance Bureau have ordered he be given a criminal mark.

In the English version; The judge thinks the authorities may have been too strict, as he says "look at him, he's a boy"; He sighs and looks through Yusei's offenses, not overly interested in Turbo Dueling without a license or malicious mischief, dismissing each of those topics with "blah, blah" and "la-de-dah"; He then reads about Yusei entering New Domino City without a permit; Seeing this a serious offense, he orders Yusei be marked.

Some machines appear, one holding Yusei's head in place. In the Japanese version; the other shoots a laser on his left cheek making Yusei scream in pain; After the mark is in place, the machine retracts upwards and Yusei falls forward on his face; the two attendants pick him up; The judge tells him that this mark means he has no rights to livelihood. Yusei looks at him angrily, almost growling. In the English version, it sprays a dye on his face; Yusei asks if it's supposed to tickle; The judge replies that it's supposed to make sure they can keep an eye on him. Yusei's final punishment is that he is to undergo a 1 month reeducation program at the Facility. In the English version; The judge describes this as not being so bad and jokes that he'll get to do arts and crafts and meet colorful characters; He then says that once Yusei's sentence, which he corrects to vacation, is over, Yusei can return to Satellite, but may never duel or set foot in New Domino City again.

After being notified of his convictions, Yusei enters a wagon heading to the Facility. He sits down with some other individuals, who seem depressed also, until one eccentric old man, excitedly enters and leaps onto the bench beside Yusei. The old man, Tenzen Yanagi, introduces himself to Yusei. Yusei just stares out the window. Yanagi recognizes Yusei of being caught at the Kaiba Dome and tells him he was in the neighborhood at the time. He mentions the blackout and the red dragon appearing. Yusei finally responds, being surprised that Yanagi was present. In the Japanese version, he asked Yanagi what he knows, but Yanagi says that he ought to be asking Yusei how he made that thing come out; "You were having a Riding Duel (Turbo Duel), right? So that dragon only shows up during a Duel, huh?". In the English version; he begs Yusei to tell him where he got the dragon and lists a number of guesses.

Meanwhile Jack wakes up, in his mansion, from a dream about the red dragon. He inspects the dragon mark on his arm. He goes down a set of stairs to Mina and asks her how long he had been there. In the Japanese version; Mina tells him he had been there since this morning and the director, Goodwin, had brought him; She says that Jack must be very upset that the Duel didn't have a proper outcome. In the English version; Mina is surprised that he doesn't remember. She tells him that he dueled a person from the Satellite, named Yusei at the Kaiba Dome; The Duel was amazing; Jack has Yusei on the ropes, but they both kept countering each other and then the power outage saved Jack from losing.

Jack looks mad upon hearing this. In the Japanese version; he asks how she knew it didn't have an outcome; Mina quickly bows forward, apologizes and confesses that she saw the whole thing. In the English version; Jack says that's impossible he had Yusei right where he wanted him; Mina bows forward, apologizes and asks him not to be angry. Jack then leaves and does not respond to Mina asking where he is going.

Goodwin, Zigzix and Lazar are analyzing Jack and Yusei's Duel. In the Japanese version; Zigzix points out that the speed of the Ener-D quickly rose when "Stardust Dragon" and "Red Dragon Archfiend" clashed. In the English version; Zigzix points out the rise in energy caused by by "Stardust Dragon" and "Red Dragon Archfiend" colliding; Unlike the Japanese version, they had been previously unaware of this form of energy; Zigzix names it Ener-D, which is energy replacing the "GY" with a "-D", which he explains stands for dueling. Lazar assumes that this supports the conditions required to resurrect the ancient Crimson Dragon. In the English version; Zigzix is concerned about them how the power of the Crimson Dragon is immeasurable; They won't know what would happen, should all its powers be unleashed.

Meanwhile the wagon finally arrives at the Facility. Yusei's criminal mark is scanned by a guard after he gets off. The guard creates a small holographic projection of Yusei's details. In the Japanese version his age, 18, is shown and all other details and set at "unknown". In the English version, the details are made unreadable. The hologram is accompanied by a robotic voice describing Yusei's offenses in the English version. In the Japanese version; the guard says that starting today Yusei will be referred to by number, G2MA2-88. In the English version; he says "Bet you wished you stayed in the Satellite, now". The guard leads them to their rooms, alerting them of other more uncouth inmates. In the English version; he also mentions a few rules, including no chewing gum, fighting or dueling. Tanner watches the newcomers from his cell as they go to their rooms.

Yusei and Yanagi enter the same room. In the English version; the guard tells Yusei that Yanagi has been here a few times before. As the guard leaves Tanner tells him that he'd like to throw the usual welcome party for the newcomers. As their senior, he'd like to teach them the rules of the place. The guard approves and unlocks his cell. In the Japanese version; he tells Tanner not to stir up too much trouble. In the English version; the guard says "Good luck. New guy looks like trouble."

Yanagi admires the center. In the Japanese version; Yusei interrupts him reminding him that he hasn't answered his question about the crimson dragon, but Yanagi quickly dismisses the question and asks Yusei if he brought a Deck; Yusei asks what makes him think he could bring one; Yanagi proudly produces cards hidden within his clothing and tells him that having travelled from one Facility to another has led him to realize that there are Decks wherever you go; Yanagi explains that people inside and outside the center are the same; Even in the center there are people who are a shot and people who get shot; It all depends on dueling. In the English version; Yusei asks Yanagi how he ended up in the center; Yanagi replied that he collects cards; Although everyone does this, his are illegal magic relics from ancient civilizations; Yusei says that that sounds cool and he'd like to see them; Yanagi proudly produces cards from his clothes and reminds Yusei how he's been here so many times; It's easy to sneak cards in and it's just as well he did, since dueling is the only way to stay safe.

Meanwhile Mina quickly chases after Jack, who is heading to Goodwin's meeting. At the meeting, Zigzix points out the rapid rise in Ener-D did not occur while both dragons were out, but until they battled each other.

Jack interrupts the meeting and Mina begs Goodwin to forgive her. Jack sees a projection of "Stardust Dragon" and "Red Dragon Archfiend" clashing. He points at it outraged. In the Japanese; he asks why they had been watching this. In the English; He asks if the two "peons", Lazar and Zigzix, had recorded his Duel. Goodwin tells him to calm down. In the Japanese version, he reminds Jack that it is their duty to know of all disorders in the city; Jack asks Goodwin what it is he knows about the Crimson Dragon and holds up his arm asking why his birthmark began throbbing when the dragon showed up. In the English version; Goodwin reminds Jack that he broke a dozen rules and is lucky that his little match didn't end up on the news; It's their job to protect Jack, so he insists that Jack tell them what he knows about the Crimson Dragon; Jack replies that he knows his birthmark began to throb when it appeared.

Goodwin tells Jack people with the dragon birthmark are called Signers and are part of legend. Everyone in the room bows to Jack. Jack tells them that one showed up on Yusei too. Goodwin replies that they had not seen one on Yusei's arm due to the blackout. Jack ensures them that he saw one on Yusei. In the Japanese version, he points out that two years ago he didn't have anything of the sort. In the English version, he says that Yusei is destined for nothing but minimum wage and Yusei didn't have the mark back when they were in Satellite, so it must be a fake.

Jack spots something on the projection of the Duel and orders Zigzix to stop the monitor and zoom in on something. Jack is shocked upon noticing the card "Meteor Stream", which ensured Yusei's victory. Goodwin tells Jack not to be bothered; nobody else knows what happened that night. In the Japanese version; Outraged Jack announces that he is King and cannot forget this. In the English version, Jack says that he still knows and must get revenge. He demands to know where Yusei is. Goodwin tells him that he is at the facility. Jack turns to leave, announcing that he is going to him. Goodwin insists that he doesn't for his reputation and that he should stay to learn the meaning of the People of the Stars and the Signers, and who he truly is.

Back at the Facility, Tanner and his goons take Yusei and Yanagi to his dueling field. In the Japanese version; Tanner informs them that there are rules inside and outside the center; Inside he calls the shots. In the English version; he tells them how things are going to work around here; On the first day everyone duels; If they do good, they get respect; But they're not to get ideas since he's the best. Yanagi gets excited, identifying him as Bolt Tanner, the pro duelist. He looks at him in admiration. In the Japanese version; Tanner calls him an old geezer and tells him to shut up; Yanagi ignores this and continues to admire him, telling Yusei how he used to watch him on TV. In the English version; Yanagi claims to be Tanner's biggest fan and asks for an autograph; Tanner replies that he only writes in black and blue. Tanner's followers say that Yanagi can't take a hint. Tanner does not like talking of those days. In the Japanese version floating hearts appear while Yanagi admires Himuro. These are removed in the English version.

In the Japanese version; Tanner informs Yanagi that lower rank duelists are to be obedient to those on top; Yanagi knows this; He figured something like this and brought his Deck; Tanner's face lights up and Yanagi shows him his "Hidden Treasure Deck" as he pulls the cards out from different parts of his clothing. In the English version; Tanner tells Yanagi that he's earned his first opponent, Tanner himself; He then tells Yanagi that since he doesn't have a Deck, he'll have to duel with a reject one they put together; Yanagi laughs that he's smuggled in his own Deck, which he calls a "Treasure Deck" and thinks its the greatest Deck ever; He pulls the cards out from different parts of his clothing. Tanner's followers are astonished that Yanagi has cards.

In the Japanese version; Tanner asks Yusei if he's ready, but Yusei has no Deck; Tanner understands that Yusei was brought here for trespassing from Satellite; Being a resident of Satellite puts you at the bottom; Yusei is offended; Yanagi breaks up a possible argument and asks Tanner to duel him instead. In the English version; Tanner asks Yusei where his Deck is; Yusei hangs his head and replies that it's not with him; Tanner then tells Yusei that once he's done with Yanagi he'll put together a Deck for Yusei and then teach him a thing or two about dueling in the Facility; Yanagi breaks the two of them up, saying to calm down and that he's been here before and knows how the rules work, so if he wins he should be in charge; Tanner is outraged with Yanagi's attitude, but Yanagi insists they start the Duel already.

Yanagi is excited to be dueling his hero. The spectators are all slightly worried before Yanagi plays a card, but then go on to mock them as they damage Yanagi, himself. Yanagi gets upset after any of his cards are destroyed, since they are all rare models. Yusei gets angered each time Tanner or the spectators mock Yanagi's cards. Tanner quickly wins the duel. Yanagi drops his cards and begins to gather them up. Tanner comes over and steps on one, saying that Yanagi will get the lowest rank for trying to make a fool of him. Yanagi insists that he wasn't trying to make a fool out of Tanner, he just wanted to show a duelist as great as him his cards. He loves all of them and asks what is wrong with that. He's not too keen on their effects, but it feels like the mysteries of humans shine through his cards and begs Tanner to move his foot. Tanner rubs his foot around, with the card still under it. Yusei grabs Tanner and trips him back, making him fall off Yanagi's card. Yusei asks Yanagi if he can borrow his Deck. He wants to duel using his cards. Yusei challenges Tanner to a Duel telling him that there's not one of the many cards in the world that is useless.

Yusei stands across from Tanner ready to duel him. Tanner's followers don't believe Yusei can win with Yanagi's cards. Yanagi is a bit unsure himself, but Yusei tells Yanagi to just make sure to watch. Yanagi remembers the Crimson Dragon rising over the Duel stadium and asks, "Just who are you?" Tanner starts the Duel ready to teach Yusei a lesson.

In the Japanese version; Yusei tells Yanagi that it is a duelist's duty to breath life into cards by breathing. If cards have felt pain by being stepped on, then imparting joy into them is also a duelist's duty.

Yanagi recognizes Yusei's hand as the same one he had. He warns Yusei not to play "Crystal Skull" as it resulted in him taking 1000 damage, but Yusei ignores him and plays it. Tanner's followers start laughing, but Yusei reverses the damage with "Curse Reflection Doll" reversing the damage to Tanner. Yusei explains the same "Crystal Skull" that got trashed for being useless has gained strength by drawing from its friends.

One of Tanner's supporters tries to assure Tanner that that was luck, but Tanner insists that it was skill. In the Japanese version, he says that it has gotten him psyched up for the Duel. In the English version, he says that the pro Duels has taught him how to spot a good opponent and Yusei seems to know what he's doing. Yusei ends his turn. Tanner manages to Summon "Giant Ushi Oni" and quickly inflict damage to Yusei.

Yusei continues to start his moves similar to Yanagi, resulting in the watchers mocking him. Tanner keeps them quiet, as he sees sense to Yusei's moves. Yusei manages to hold off Tanner's attacks. Yusei's skill reminds Tanner of when he was a pro duelist.

Yusei puts faith in Yanagi's cards in an attempt to draw the card needed to win the Duel. Yusei draws "Piri Reis Map" and smiles. After playing it, he gathers all the cards needed to play "Triangle O". He than plays it, winning the Duel.

Tanner's followers rush to him, while Yanagi leaps on Yusei to kiss him. Tanner congratulates Yusei and asks his name. He then apologizes to Yanagi for stepping on his cards. He tells Yusei that he'd like to take him to the pro world and shakes his hand. Then two guards arrive telling Yusei that he is to see the chief.

Mr. Armstrong, who is monitoring the duel from an office calls Rex Goodwin who tells Armstrong to continue his surveillance. Goodwin then informs Jack that Yusei has started a Duel.

He then leads Jack to a room he has never shown him before. Here he tells Jack the legend of the Signers; Jack's dragon-shaped birthmark represents the wings of the Crimson Dragon. The Public Security Maintenance Bureau is merely a temporary form. They are those who inherited people of the stars power to bring security to the public. All who have sworn loyalty to the name Yliaster, govern all things controlling society. Rex reveals himself to be the 360th Guardian of the Star. Yliaster started roughly 3,000 years ago in the Andes in South America.

Rex raises his hand causing the scenery to change to an ancient Inca civilization. The People of the Stars started a culture, the Stairway to the Dragon Star, and worshiped the Dragon Star as a God. All their knowledge from the Dragon Star was passed down to them through their ruler, the Star Dragon King. Wicked Disturbances often threatened the people. As a result the King prayed to the God for salvation. The God responded by sending the Crimson Dragon sealing the evil in the Earth.

Goodwin raises his hand again changing the scenery, so he and Jack stand in mid-air above the Nazca Lines. He explains that the evil had spread over the planet as time passed. He lists some social and economic problems in the world and says that New Domino is the only remaining Utopia. The Wicked Gods sealed in the Nazca are soon to be revived. He has searched for the summoner of the Crimson Dragon to protect humanity, the Signer with the dragon birthmark. Jack rolls up his sleeve and glares at his birthmark. In the Japanese version, he says, "So you mean this birthmark... is it me?" In the English, he says, "So I'm supposed to save the world? Why didn't you say so?"

Tanner lost to Jack Atlas, who insulted him, saying he was a poor opponent and put up a weak duel. In the Japanese version, this caused Tanner to quit and take up underground dueling; He managed to win duels here, but getting involved in illegal dueling had bad effects on him, including alcoholism.

In the English version, Tanner's alcoholism and drug problems were only implied as he stated "It was all downhill from there", indicating that those events occurred after he lost to Jack.

Two of the Facility officers lead Yusei to an interrogation chamber.

Tanner notes that since Yusei was sent to the center for trespassing, they would have investigated him before sending him there and wonders what more could they be looking into. Knowing the chief Mr. Armstrong, Tanner has a bad feeling about this.

Meanwhile Mr. Armstrong checks Yusei's arm where the dragon mark appeared during his duel with Jack. The mark was not present, so Armstrong shoves Yusei over to the other officers commanding them to search him thoroughly.

Yusei is stripped down to his underwear, strapped to a table and put inside a machine. Inside it, he is subjected to a number of shocks before being brought back out. Armstrong grabs Yusei by the hair, asking him if he has had enough and tells him things like a Duel Runner or a Deck are not to be wasted on residents of Satellite. He tells Yusei that the Director probably has the Securities searching Yusei's Deck and Duel Runner.

At the Security Headquarters, Lazar shows Rex Goodwin, that the Facility has so far found no trace of anything regarding Signers on Yusei. Lazar then asks Rex, if he has told Jack about everything yet. Goodwin says that he had to tell him everything to subdue Jack's anger. Lazar finds this is where things shall get entertaining. Goodwin agrees and says that he must next meet Yusei.

Back at the center, Yusei is thrown back into his cell with Yanagi. He briefs Yanagi in on how they searched for his dragon birthmark. Yanagi, who was unaware Yusei had such a mark, asks him if he's a Signer and tells him what he'd heard about the People of the Stars, when he was in South America; According to the People of the Stars' legend the Crimson Dragon was God, and people with dragon birthmarks, capable of calling out the dragon are called Signers. There are five signers, each with their own dragon. The five dragons have changed their looks over the ages, but still live on. Yanagi pauses for a second, realizing something. He quickly jolts his head closer to Yusei, asking if he has a dragon. Yusei calmly says that if that's what that card is, that would make sense. Yanagi gets excited and asks if he can see the card. Yanagi ponders as to why the people at the center at interested in that.

The next day at the center, Armstrong introduces Goodwin, before Goodwin gives a speech to the inmates on Security. Goodwin catches a glimpse of Yusei in the crowd. He explains the significance of why he has split people into living in New Domino City and Satellite. As he does so, he walks into the crowd stopping next to Yusei and saying crossing from Satellite to New Domino can throw the world into disorder. Someone doing so can cause trouble to their friends.

After the speech, Armstrong orders everyone back to their cells, but tells Yusei to stay. Rex tells Yusei that Jack is dueling around now and asks about his birthmark. Yusei asks Goodwin what he is scheming and demands that he leave his friends out of this.

At Jack's mansion, Mina has information on Jack's challenger for tomorrow. She would appreciate it if Jack would look through it. Jack doesn't seem to care too much about the data and asks Mina how does he look. "Unquestionable, like the King of Du..." she replies before Jack interrupts her declaring that he isn't. He lost his undefeated record. He is no King. Mina disagrees saying that he should be King. Jack is insulted by the words "should be". He walks over the window and asks if this mean that he's "the clown"?

At Jack's Riding Duel, he finds the crowds cheering and emotions have no effect on him. On Hunter's first turn he lowers Jack's Life Points to 1000 and reveals how he plans to finish the duel next turn, making him King. Jack mocks Hunter's dueling and calls it luck. He then turns the duel around and wins on his next turn, telling Hunter to kneel before the King. After winning, Jack stands up to announce that there is only one King and that is him. But Jack thinks to himself that that duel wasn't enough to fulfill his thirst.

Soon after Yusei is moved to a new cell, where he meets his new cell mate, Alex. Alex tries to welcome Yusei by offering him the top bunk, while most newcomers get stuck with the bottom. Yusei ignores him and climbs into the top bunk, where he lies and reflects on what has happened over the last few days. Alex introduces himself and tells Yusei he saw his duel with Bolt Tanner. Yusei asks him to keep it down.

Tenzen Yanagi appears outside Yusei and Alex's cell and escorts him to Bolt. The three of them have all been escorted to this part of the center. Yanagi explains that this part of the place is for long term inmates. Bolt's worried about rumors he's heard of Mr. Armstrong flashing his power around.

Mr. Armstrong who is monitoring their conversation remembers Rex Goodwin telling him that Yusei is a Signer. Mr. Armstrong pointed out that their tests indicated otherwise. Nevertheless Rex Goodwin asked that he keep an eye on Yusei. Mr. Armstrong is outraged by this. He doesn't believe Yusei can be a Signer and vows to teach Yusei that trash will always be trash.

Back at the cell, Alex explains that they use this part of the center to make an example out of outsiders and that he's not going to be leaving any time soon. Alex was told he would leave soon over a year ago. He offers Yusei a chance to escape with him. By lifting up the matress on his bed, Alex reveals a hole, that took him six months to make. After passing through it Alex leads him to a place just below a well hole in Neo Domino City. Tomorrow his friends are coming to rescue him from up there and jam the alarm system connected to the criminal marks using the Net. Yusei requests that he let Yanagi and Bolt be included in this plan. Alex approves sayng that they must do this at eight o' clock tomorrow.

The next morning Mr. Armstrong speaks with Bolt Tanner saying there's been reports of him of him concealing a dangerous weapon and pulls a knife out of Bolt's jacket. In the English version, he claims he found magazines in his bed, which are forbidden in the facility. He then takes him for interrogation. He asks him about Yusei, but Bolt refuses to sell out his friend. Bolt's wailing is heard throughout the long term section of the center as Mr. Armstrong continues to torture him.

The two guards drag Bolt to the center of the long term section, for everyone to see him. Mr. Armstrong announces that Bolt has committed a serious crime and everyone is to take responsibility for it. All their sentences are to be extended by a year and they are not allowed to leave their cells. The inmates begin to complain. Mr. Armstrong tells them to shut up. The world doesn't need any single one of them. Their kind doesn't have freedom rights. All they have is the misery to live in the shadows, he says. "If anyone has any complaints, speak up". Yusei interrupts him saying that no one is this world is unneeded. He claims Tanner is innocent and a genuine duelist. Mr. Armstrong points out that he, himself, is also a duelist and asks Yusei if that means Bolt is genuine and he is a fake. Mr, Armstrong proposes a Duel; If Yusei wins he'll forget Bolt Tanner's crime and won't lengthen Yusei's sentence, but if he wins... Yusei finishes his sentence saying that only he would be put in lockdown. Mr. Armstrong agrees and sets the duel for tomorrow at half past eight. Yusei says that's fine. Alex begins to tell Yusei that if he does that, but he's interrupted by Yanagi screaming as the guards drag him to Mr. Armstrong after finding he has cards. Yanagi pleas with them not to take his cards but Mr. Armstrong punches him away and confiscates his Deck.

Tanner and Yanagi are tossed into a cell. Yusei rushes to them and is followed by many other inmates. Tanner has also had his Deck confiscated. Alex tells Yusei that Mr. Armstrong has suckered him; without a Deck, Yusei will be little more than a joke. He requests that the two of them just escape. Yanagi and Bolt Tanner will be unable to come in their condition. Yusei declines. Alex is astonished and says that no one in the center has honor. Yusei simply says, "If they duel me, they're my friend. If I were to leave without my friends, I wouldn't truly be free." Alex gets annoyed and tells Yusei not to act tough, without a Deck. He then runs off saying "Do whatever you want then, freaking hell." The other inmates confront Yusei telling that he's really went and done it now and they need a little chat.

The next morning at 8:30, the guards escort Yusei to Mr. Armstrong, who thinks Yusei has no Deck, allowing him to win by default. But Yusei shows him he has a Deck. Mr. Armstrong, in shock, asks how he got that. Yusei says that Mr. Armstrong doesn't understand the care a duelist can have for a card as he reflects on last night, when the other inmates spoke with him. They each gave him cards important to them for Yusei to use against Mr. Armstrong.

Yusei is given a Duel Disk. Both players have their Duel Disks chained to the ground. As they duel, individual inmates light up, when Yusei plays a card they gave to him. Yusei receives an electric shock whenever his Life Points take damage. Mr. Armstrong explains that both players are subjected to a shock when they take damage and it is unlikely that the loser will survive. Only a small current passed through Mr. Armstrong when he took damage. Mr. Armstrong claimed that his is out of order. The inmates boo and accuse Mr. Armstrong of setting that up.

Meanwhile Jack rides around his mansion on his Duel Runner wondering if he must duel Yusei again to make the Crimson Dragon appear.

Yusei is left gasping for breath after receiving a shock for taking damage. Armstrong laughs and says that he'll send Yusei back to his dump of a hometown, after he puts an end to his life. Yusei manages to stand up and play on. Armstrong proceeds to send cards from Yusei's Deck to his Graveyard. He points out that the cards are just trash, since he received them from other "scumbags" at the center, so he should hurry up and send them to the Graveyard. Workers at the center monitor the duel on a surveillance camera and secretly tell Armstrong the cards in Yusei's hand.

Alex says, "Forgive me, Yusei," before he climbs into the tunnel he's dug under his mattress. He reaches the well hole, where his friends are waiting to rescue him. He begins to get excited about leaving, but remembers what Yusei said, that if he left without his friends, it wouldn't be true freedom.

For a brief moment the lights go out at the center and Yusei wonders if Alex succeeded in escaping. He wishes for Alex to escape and intends to buy him time with the duel. Yusei manages to inflict damage to Armstrong causing him to receive a shock. Yanagi accuses Armstrong of acting, but Tanner suspects something else is going on. Yusei proceeds to attack Armstrong again. Armstrong pleads with him not to before receiving more shocks. Alarms are sounded stating that an intruder has been captured. Two guards then lead Alex, who is looking pleased with himself to Armstrong. They explain how Alex had tried to escape.

Armstrong whispers to one of the guards to cut the current. Alex tells him that is now impossible. Armstrong fills with rage and threatens to kill Alex when he's done with Yusei. Alex is not bothered as he rests assured that Yusei will win.

Alex tells Yusei why he returned. Yusei then adds a new condition to the duel. If he wins, Armstrong must forget about what Alex has done. Armstrong says that if Yusei loses, Alex goes down with him.

After Yusei is left with 100 Life Points and no cards in his Deck, Armstrong laughs that the duel is over now. Yusei tells him that thanks to him sending so many cards to his Graveyard, he's now confident he can win. Armstrong previously called the cards trash, but now Yusei shall prove that there's no one the world doesn't need. He then Summons "Rubble King" and uses his effect to play "Blasting the Ruins", winning the Duel.

Armstrong demands the guards to seize Yusei claiming not to remember making any promises with them. However Rex Goodwin then appears and tells Armstrong that that Duel has proved he is incapable of keeping things under control and he shall be the one leaving. In the English, Armstrong is fired for abusing his position.

Tanner, Alex, and Yanagi stand before Yusei to wish him well before he leaves. Alex tells Yusei that judging by Goodwin showing up like that, he must be concerned about Yusei. Yanagi gives Yusei his "Totem Pole" card. Yusei seems unsure about taking it knowing its importance to Yanagi, but Yanagi insists that Yusei will make good use out of it. Tanner gives Yusei a card as well: his Giant Ushi Oni. He says that it can help him retrieve his Duel Runner, which is locked in the impound center. Tanner tells Yusei to take the card to a store named Bootleg, order some milk, and ask for a man named Blister, who will help Yusei out. In the Japanese version, Tanner gives him the card and tells him there is a man named Saiga (Blister) in a bar called Bootleg. He will lend Yusei a hand if Yusei shows him the card.

At Security head quarters Lazar asks Goodwin if it was alright to let Yusei roam free as he pleases. Goodwin replies that while Yusei is there he cannot awaken the power of the Signer and besides he didn't tell him he could roam as he pleases; he has set up an elite task force to monitor him, so all they have to do is watch and wait.

As Yusei leaves the center, Trudge watches him on his Runner and takes off his helmet, revealing a scar. He says that Yusei had better hope Goodwin's task force finds him before he does.

While Yusei walks through the neon-lit Downtown District of New Domino City. Two men in suits follow and observe him. Yusei remains oblivious as he recalls what Armstrong said about the Securities having possession of his Deck and Duel Runner. He reaches a bar called Bootleg, remembering Tanner's advice about meeting Blister here, Yusei enters and the two suited men cautiously follow him. He sits at the counter before the bartender turns to serve him. The spikey haired bartender, with a criminal marking each of his eyes begins to mock and patronize Yusei. Yusei calmly asks for some milk. The bartender furiously grabs him by the collar asking if he's trying to yank his chain, but releases him as he sees Yusei's stalkers enter. (This was not included in the English version, due to possible contents of violence.) The barman gasps in shock after Yusei shows him the "Giant Ushi Oni" card. He then serves him the milk on the house and notices the two suited men. He nods to indicate to Yusei their presence and sends Yusei outside. The two people follow Yusei out as well.

After Yusei leaves, a rider leaps off a roof on a Duel Runner. He grabs Yusei, stuffs him on the Duel Runner and rides off. The stalkers pull out a tracking device, but Yusei's marker suddenly disappears from the device. The rider is shown flashing a device over Yusei's criminal mark, jamming its signal. He introduces himself as Blister. Helicopters now scout the area in search of Yusei.

At a seemingly abandoned office, Blister types something on a laptop. Yusei asks Blister what he is. Blister smirks and replies that he's not quite sure himself, but he'll get Yusei almost anything. He describes himself as a "Jack of all trades". Yusei remains silent while Blister continues to explain that he needn't worry about pay, because Tanner paid him before being sent to the center. He then asks Yusei what he can do for him. Yusei tells him that he plans to infiltrate the Security storage warehouse building. Blister turns to look at him, now with a shocked expression.

Blister prepares a fake id for Yusei, which describes him as an electrician named Taro Daimon (In the English version, it was changed to Yusei Adams). He also manages to pin point the location of Yusei's Duel Runner. While he's hacking, Yusei finds a picture of Blister with another duelist holding a trophy. Yusei notices the other duelist is holding a "Machina Sniper" card. A damaged "Machina Sniper" is also found, beneath the picture. Yusei asks Blister if he was a duelist. Blister gets mad and yells at Yusei not to be going around touching other people's stuff. Unremorsed by his scolding, Yusei holds up the picture and notes that Blister was a Tag Turbo Duelist. Blister sighs that he wasn't a pro, he only defeated duelists in the exhibition league. He then drops the subject and calls Yusei over to show his progress. Despite obtaining the password to the warehouse, Blister is still certain Yusei will end up back in the Facility. Either way he doesn't care.

Meanwhile Trudge, who is hiding outside, laughs and says that he won't allow Yusei to give him the slip. He recalls anointing himself to be the one to remove Yusei from New Domino, back at Security headquarters.

The next day, Blister gives Yusei a bag of essentials telling him that the rest relies on his luck. As Yusei reaches for the bag, Blister demands to know why Yusei is embarking on this mission, knowing that he'll get caught. Yusei replies that the bonds of his friends are there and that he's just taking back what was stolen from him. Blister jeers at the idea of doing this for friends. Yusei then cleverly glances at the picture he was looking at earlier. Blister's tone changes as he says that he understands. He once had a friend, he tells Yusei, but all he left was an unrealistic reality of living dead with profound despair. Although he hasn't changed his mind on how he remarked on what Yusei said, and tells him that bonds of friendship is just a fantasy. You eventually only try think of yourself, just like him. He then recalls an incident where his friend Aero got badly injured in a Riding Duel accident. Fortunately Aero lived, but will never ride a Duel Runner again. Blister splutters and says that he's already as good as dead. He picks up the "Machina Sniper" card, saying that it is what their bond ended up as. He was sent it after the accident, but feels Aero did it in spite of him for walking out himself. He angrily proclaims that risking your life for a friend is impossible when you get down to it. So you're as well off not making friends. Yusei remains silent and leaves to proceed with his mission.

After Yusei leaves Blister repeats to himself, "What a load of nonsense." He glares out the window at Yusei, who is now being silently followed by Trudge.

Yusei disguised with a hat enters a building. After the building closes and the lights go out, Yusei emerges from the male toilets. He goes to the top floor, where Blister located his Duel Runner. Using the "Yusei Adams" ID card, Yusei gains access to the storage room, where the Duel Runner is detained. Using a kind of tracker, he pinpoints its location, but is suddenly dazzled by an barrage of spotlights.

Trudge, who is standing up on the platform next to the lights with another Security, says he knew, with Yusei being Satellite scum, he would try something, but he can hardly believe he went as far as sneaking into the warehouse. Yusei shouts that this belongs to him and his friends. Trudge disagrees saying it's property of New Domino City, as is scum from Satellite. Trudge announces that he'll send him back to the Facility and sets a group of Securities on Yusei.

Yusei leaps inside the crate holding his Duel Runner. Inside Yusei gets on his Duel Runner at 7:09 pm and smashes through the crate while riding it. He races on narrowly making it through a closing door, but is followed by Trudge on his own Duel Runner. Trudge activates his "Speed World" at 7:11 pm, causing a Turbo Duel to start.

As they duel Yusei tries to find a way of escaping the building, but other Security members monitor the Duel and close any doors Yusei tries to escape through. Escaping seems hopeless for Yusei, but Blister then contacts him telling him to push on. Yusei speeds forward straight in the direction of a door.

Yusei continues his Turbo Duel with Trudge while trying to escape the Security warehouse. Securities continue to shut exits leaving no escape. With only a dead end ahead, Trudge prompts Yusei to surrender. Blister then contacts Yusei and tells him to push on. Yusei speeds forward towards the next door, which suddenly explodes allowing passage for the two riders. After passing through, both riders plummet down an elevator chute. Trudge laughs and continues the Duel as they fall. In the English version, Trudge says that he'll get payback for when Yusei ditched him back in the trash tube.

Yusei makes it out after reaching the bottom, but the elevator doors shut holding Trudge inside. Trudge smashes through the doors and catches up with Yusei. Trudge begins to ram his Duel Runner into Yusei's, but is abruptly kicked back when Blister suddenly appears. In the Japanese version; Yusei asks Blister why he came. Claiming not to have any "mushy" feelings for friends, Blister states that he's here to see the fate of someone who prattles of "bonds of friendship" and for their financial business. Yusei asks what happened, and Blister reflects on the accident where Aero got severly injured. In the English; Yusei thanks Blister, but Blister says not to bother, he's only here to check out his handiwork; should this task fail, his reputation might never recover. He tries to assures Yusei that they're not friends, he's already ruined one friendship. Yusei then asks Blister to tell him about Aero.

In the Japanese version, Blister says that he convinced himself that Aero was the best friend around. But he cut ties with Aero in order to go solo and make it to the big league.

In the English version, Blister tells Yusei that back then, they were on top of their game and it was all because Aero was a great competitor and an even greater friend. Aero thought they'd be champs forever, Blister explains, but he was missing the bigger picture, Tag Dueling could only take them so far. Blister made arrangements to go solo, after a representative from KaibaCorp showed up, offering big money. He saw this as a huge chance to make it to the big league and face Duelist like the legends, Atlas, Phoenix and Truesdale.

While Blister and Aero are Dueling, Blister began to scold Aero for playing the "Machina Sniper" card.

In the Japanese version, Aero says that it's their favorite card, but Blister argues that that move is not always going to work. Blister reminds Yusei of what he said, "having friends makes you only think more about yourself." You just use them, hurt them and eventually betray them without a care.

In the English version, Aero asks why does Blister care and feels betrayed after hearing the deal he made with KaibaCorp. Blister tells him that friendship doesn't pay the rent and he doesn't want to spend the rest of his life in the Tag Duel bush league. Aero apologizes.

"Machina Sniper" gets destroyed and they begin arguing over the move. As they argue the Duel Runner in front of them falls over. The duo hit off of it and are sent off course in the direction of a factory. The side car breaks off. Blister reaches out for Aero's hand, but pulls away to save himself, leaving Aero to crash.

In the Japanese version, he explains that Aero survived, but still curses him to this day. Yusei asks if Aero actually said that. Blister replies that he didn't have to for him to know. Yusei glares back slightly unsure. He says that the word friend may be phony, but so long as the bond exists, that's proof enough. That is why Yusei came back; for his bonds.

In the English version, Blister says that Aero spend a few months in hospital and never let him say sorry. All he did was send him the "Machina Sniper" card to remind him what a bad friend he was. Next time someone asks Yusei about friendship, Blister instructs him to remember what he did to his best friend. He hopes Yusei's friends are worth the risk that Yusei is investing, because if he knows friends, they're only hanging out with Yusei because they want something in return. Yusei insists that he's wrong and Blister is too angry with himself to see the truth. He tells Blister that Aero never wanted to hurt him; sometimes, friends do stupid things.

Trudge suddenly reappears reminding them that the Duel is still on. The Duel continues and with victory looking very likely to be in Trudge's hands. In the English version, Blister says that Yusei is just like Aero, since he's not afraid. Yusei tells him that's because he's got him on his side and Aero would have felt the same.

In the Japanese version, Blister becomes uneasy and asks Yusei how he's going to get out of this. Yusei assures Blister that he'll win, while he has bonds with his friends, but this causes Blister to get even more upset and tell Yusei to stop with his nonsense. Yusei says that it isn't nonsense and that Blister is holding a bond himself, the "Machina Sniper". Blister still thinks he was given the card as a reminder that Aero will never forgive him. Yusei suggests that maybe Aero had risked his life to save the card. Yusei could tell by looking at the damaged card, that Aero had fixed it up.

In the English version, Blister worries that Yusei is going to lose and his reputation will suffer. Yusei assures him that he'll win and that Blister's friendship is what's going to make it all possible. Blister is reluctant to help him. He says Yusei doesn't want his help, unlike back in the Satellite, friends only get in the way over here. Yusei is not convinced that Blister really feels that way. Mentioning the card Aero returned to him, immediately causes Blister to jump on defense and insist Aero gave it to him in spite. Yusei assures Blister, that he's wrong, Aero gave him the card as a symbol of their friendship.

Flashbacks show Aero rescuing the card from the fire just before being blown back by the explosion. Yusei assures Blister, that Aero didn't want to cut bonds, since he wanted to cherish those bonds. As long as Saiga holds the bonds, they will still be friends, just like Yusei has his friends.

The Duel continues and when it is clear that Yusei is about to win, Trudge becomes enraged and begins to ram into Yusei saying that he shouldn't lose to Satellite scum, like Yusei. Blister then holds Trudge back allowing Yusei to finish the Duel. Blister falls over while holding Trudge back, but tells Yusei to go on without him.

Yusei leaves the building and rides through a crowd of Securities. As he does so, he gets electrocuted by the securities. Meanwhile Luna, who is with her brother Leo, senses something and rushes out of the room. As Yusei gets away from the crowd and falls. The twins dash outside the building, and are shock as they found him on the ground unconscious.

As Yusei lies unconscious on a couch inside a flower decorated residence. Leo and Luna stand over him discussing his criminal mark, thinking they may be in trouble for aiding him. In the Japanese version, it was Luna who did not know about the criminal mark, so Leo explained it to her, however in the English version, Leo was the one who didn't know, and she had to explain it to him. (In the English version, after debating, Luna attempts to investigate by listening to the cards in Yusei's deck. She stated that the cards said that he was a very good person, but was also very sad, leading the twins to yet another debate as to why). Yusei regains consciousness and is greeted by the twins, who introduce themselves. Yusei reaches for his Deck. Leo, who had been eyeing his Deck asks Yusei who he is. Yusei then introduces himself. (In the English version, Yusei has amnesia in this episode, therefore having no idea what his name is.)

Soon after Lazar informs Goodwin, that all the invitations but Yusei's have been sent out. He also briefs him in on Yusei's status, that he has recovered his Deck and Duel Runner and is currently hiding in Tops.

Leo while knowing that Yusei is a Duelist asks if they can duel. Before Yusei makes a decision a poster of Jack Atlas and some merchandise catch his eye. Leo tells him that his King memorabilia is his treasure and that it is his dream to one day become King. He asks Yusei if he's a fan of the King too. Yusei answers that he isn't and Leo says that it's almost a shame that he Turbo Duels. Yusei asks why he says that, and Leo points to Yusei's Duel Runner. Yusei being a Turbo Duelist, Leo thinks he must yearn to be King. Yusei ignores him as he inspects his Duel Runner. Luna points out that Yusei isn't listening. Refusing to give up, Leo grabs an envelope, showing an invitation to the Fortune Cup to Yusei, saying that he has a chance to duel the King. The invitations were sent out at random and this one was given to Luna, who didn't feel like entering.

So Leo plans to enter impersonating her. Luna sighs that he won't be able to do that, but Leo argues that he will be able to pull it off (in the English version, Leo says they're twins and look alike, but Luna says "No we aren't, I'm a girl, I'm pretty". Leo responds by saying he will use makeup, to which Luna starts chanting "Leo's wears makeup", and Leo finishes by saying she's just jealous). Luna still sitting calmly responds saying that he is being overoptimistic about Yusei. Taken back, he begins to explain Yusei should be trusted. Luna reminds Leo that he is shouting. Yusei had begun to overhear their conversation. Yusei thanks for them for their hospitality, he appreciates them bringing him here, but they're better off not getting involved with him. He begins to leave saying that he doesn't want to cause them any trouble. Determined to stop him from leaving Leo tells him he's no trouble and grabs a Duel Disk. He tells Yusei to duel him, and being a duelist, Yusei must always accept a challenge. Hyperactively shaking, while he speaks of how he'd like to face all kinds of opponents, his Duel Disk slips down his arm. As he tries fixing it, Yusei is reminded of Rally fixing something. Seeing a resemblance between the two, Yusei accepts. (In the English version, Yusei agreed to duel Leo to help get his memory back.)

Meanwhile Trudge is trying to get into to the Tops residential area, where Yusei is now staying with Leo and Luna, but being a Satellite investigator, he requires authorization to conduct the investigation. A guard refuses to let Trudge in for this reason. Trudge is outraged saying that the Securities in the Tops area treat him like the Satellite scum. Trudge's assistant says that those type Securities flaunt about being native born. Knowing Yusei is in there, Trudge says they must find another way of capturing him. Trudge and other Securities surround the area, to attempt to leave Yusei no escape. Blister secretly watches them.

As they prepare to duel outside, Yusei checks for assurance that they are the only ones there. Luna explains that they are on the top floor and it's only ever been the two of them alone together, since their parents are almost always at work. The two of them Duel. Leo gets overly excited, which Luna occasionally points out. Yusei wins and Leo seems to start sniffing. Luna walks over to him and says he sure does cry easily. Yusei walks over to Leo, and offers some comfort saying he could tell that Leo enjoyed dueling from the bottom of his heart.

But his dueling was self centered. He was satisfied, with just getting his four "Morphtronics" together, but hadn't planned on how to counter if their effects were to be reversed. Yusei then finishes by saying that if he were to duel all smug, he'd be on a long path to becoming the king. Leo then lowers his head, and Luna comforts her brother by putting a hand on his shoulder and tells him to cheer up (in the English version, Luna says "I think you did really good, Leo."). Leo then asks for another Duel, but Yusei shows him his mark saying, "Look at this mark. If I stayed here, I'd only cause you trouble. I can't do that." Leo pleads saying he wants to help. Luna interrupts with, "There goes Leo's I-want-to-help-you-out-itis again," but asks that Yusei just rest up here for the day.

After the twins fall asleep, Yusei sneaks out, leaving behind a note and two custom made duel disks for Leo and Luna (In the English version, he does not leave a note, as he maintains the belief that not knowing about his identity will keep the twins safe).

As Yusei comes out and Trudge pulls his Duel Runner out in front of him. Trudge tries to cause trouble for Yusei, but Lazar appears, identifying himself as head of special investigations. He has come to give Yusei a message from the director, Rex Goodwin. Trudge argues that Yusei stole the Duel Runner from the Security Warehouse, but Lazar reminds him it is in his best interest not to disobey the director's orders. Lazar hands Yusei a picture of his Satellite friends, Rally, Blitz, Tank and Nervin and an invitation to the Fortune Cup. Should he refuse to enter, the four in the picture would receive pain beyond his wildest imagination. After Trudge and Lazar left, YuseiYusei crumbled the photo.

Afterwards Blister hides Yusei out from the Sector Security in a back-alley garage now decked out as a condo. He warns Yusei that the Securities will want to track him due to his altercation with Trudge that night. Yusei shrugs off the warnings as he stares into the wealthy districts of the city.

At the Tops, Luna awakens to find her brother running insanely around the house, as he cannot find Yusei. She only succeeds in calming him down when she notices that Yusei has fixed their Duel Disks for them. Then, Leo gets a call from his friend, Dexter. They make plans to go duel at the Daimon Area and hopefully meet up with a legendary duelist calling herself the "Black Rose Witch." The two friends caution each other, as the Witch is said to kill those she defeats. At this point, Dexter notices Leo's Disk has been repaired. However Luna stops him before he can reveal Yusei's identity, and tells him that, as Yusei is being pursued, they would not want to draw attention to him. Therefore Leo decides to lie in front Dexter. In the Japanese version, Leo states that he has had his Duel Disk "cusmatized". Luna tells him he was meant to say "customized". In the English version, Leo just asks Dexter to take to the Black Rose.

As Yusei tinkers with his Duel Runner, Blister asks him why Sector Security is so interested in him. Blister is certain that it's not just about the stolen Duel Runner. Yusei isn't sure, but he flings to Blister the photo Lazar used to blackmail him. Blister goes off to contact a friend who can help save Yusei's Satellite pals.

At Goodwin's complex, he outlines his scheme to trap the Signers to Jack, who dismisses it as preposterous. Goodwin, to involve Jack in participating, reveals that Yusei will be competing, thus giving Jack another shot at him. After Goodwin leaves, Jack confesses to Mina that he believes Goodwin is up to no good. He goes out to find Yusei, while assuring Mina that he alone is powerful enough to control the Crimson Dragon.

The next day, a cab drops off Tanner and Yanagi, free from prison, at Blister's place. (In the English version, upon exiting the cab, Yanagi complains about his back. In the Japanese version, he does not say anything.) The two enter to find Yusei noisily tinkering with the Runner. (In the English version, while Yusei was working on his Duel Runner, he was listening to Hyper Drive. In the Japanese version he was not listening to music.) He greets them, and they take notice of his own Deck, which they have never seen before. Tanner challenges Yusei and the Duel gets underway. Before the first move can be made, a familiar white Duel Runner rides up, and Jack confronts Yusei. Yusei accuses Jack of ratting out their old friends, which Jack has no knowledge of. As a gesture of good faith, Jack returns "Stardust Dragon" and tells Yusei to face him in the tournament. Jack takes his leave, musing about how Yusei hasn't changed at all. Yanagi is thrilled to see Yusei has his precious card back, and discerns both that Yusei is a Signer and that Jack was the person he dueled the night they were captured.

In the Yliaster chamber, Goodwin assembles Lazar and five other members whom he calls the "Dueling Assassins". He sets the Assassins loose on the city.

Yusei and his friends go to the Daimon Area to Duel. (In the English version, there is a crowd that is watching Jesse Wheeler, Joey Wheeler's cousin dueling, as mentioned from someone in the crowd. In the Japanese version no one said it was Jesse Wheeler or mentioned Joey Wheeler.) Among the duelists there, he spots Leo, who is asking around about the Black Rose Witch yet receiving little better results than harsh rebukes. Against his sister's advice, Leo introduces Yusei to Dexter, who is scared of Yusei's criminal mark. Yusei's friends have heard of the Black Rose Witch - that she can make any card she plays real and that she "erases" those she defeats - but they dismiss her as an urban legend.

As if on cue, the ground is torn up by a monstrous thornbush, and a massive dragon appears beyond the fog. The Witch appears in the fog and Yusei's birthmark starts to ache, just like when he dueled Jack. Leo attempts to challenge the Witch, but the Witch notices Yusei's birthmark. In the Japanese version, she says "you too". In the English version, she says "you also have a mark". Therefore she condemns and yells "Wretched mark!". In the English version, she says "stay away from me". She then teleports away surprising everyone. She runs into an empty ally and ducks, breathing heavily. While atop a high scaffold, Lazar cackles to himself.

On the day of the Fortune Cup, Goodwin, from his box, watches the crowd file in. Lazar enters, and tells Goodwin that the Witch is a Signer and that she has received an invitation. As Jack watches with suspicion, Goodwin puts his plan into action. "By the power of the Crimson Star, they shall all gather here..."

Before the contestants of the Fortune Cup appear at the ceremony, Yusei, Leo, Luna, Dexter, Yanagi and Tanner prepare in a corridor. Leo, now disguised as Luna, in order to participate instead of her, asks how he looks. After getting too excited, Luna kicks him, reminding him she doesn't act like that. As Yusei and Leo depart to the ceremony, Yusei advises Leo to lose the make-up. Tanner remains silent, positive the Fortune Cup is a setup.

The MC announces the Fortune Cup is getting started, before Jack Atlas and "Red Dragon Archfiend" entertain the crowd. Jack and Red Dragon stop in the center of the stadium and the contestants rise into the stadium. The audience spots Yusei's criminal mark and begin to mutter to each other. Thoughts that Yusei may have stolen an invitation and such are spread among the crowd. Yusei's friends are uneasy, but Yusei tells Leo to pay no attention.

The MC is left speechless. Greiger walks over to him and takes his microphone and asks everyone, as a duelist up there, what it is everyone sees. He points to Yusei saying he is undoubtedly a duelist, selected under the same conditions as all contestants. Having cards, marker or not, they are all the same, no one there should be ashamed of anything, he assures the crowd, it is rather them, looking at him, through their trivial rose-colored glasses that are no short of vicious. The crowd remains silent until Rex Goodwin applauds Greiger after which everyone follows. Goodwin thanks Greiger and reminds everyone of the equality of the players. The MC announces who will be in the first round as the screens randomly pair up the players. Leo is put in the first Duel against Greiger.

Rex and Lazar, now in a box room talk with Zigzix on a monitor. They will shortly have all the Signers together. Once they get them to Duel at maximum potential, it will cause the Ener-D system to respond. Zigzix has installed a number of D-Sensors throughout the stadium, which will apprehend a full account of a Signer's response heightened by the Dueling.

As the contestants prepare, Leo tells Yusei to meet him in the finals and recollects on what Yusei told him after their duel.

The MC announces the contestants Luna and Greiger. As Leo and Greiger shake hands, Leo tells Greiger that he liked his speech earlier. Greiger says that he heard Luna was a girl, he seems like a boy to him. Leo stumbles back laughing protecting his disguise saying people think he's a boy, but he'd say he's girl enough as he strikes a more feminine posture. In the crowd, Luna gets angered, saying that she doesn't act like that.

Leo gets excited as he duels, much to Luna's dismay. Greiger wishes his opponent to put up a good fight, even defeat him with the "Power of the dragon." Zigzix is unable to get a reading on his sensor, so he turns up the power. Luna begins to ache as he does this. While Zigzix gets no reaction on his scanners Lazar assures him they have checked that Luna is a Signer. Zigzix informs Lazar, that while he isn't getting a response from the field, he is getting a small reaction from the audience. Zigzix manages to pin point the reaction to be coming from Luna. Leo takes much damage from Greiger's card effects, but manages to pull off his combo. Leo attacks for apparent victory, but Greiger manages to remains in control and win.

After the Duel, Lazar meets with Greiger. He confirms Greiger's thought that he was dueling a boy, as he shows him paperwork revealing Luna to have a twin brother. Zigzix asks Goodwin how he is to handle the situation as Goodwin grins at the image of Luna in the audience.

As Luna and Dexter try to cheer up Leo after his loss to Greiger. They approach Yusei, who tells him the experience he got from losing should prove useful later on. Leo encourages Yusei to win, just before Akiza passes them. She glares intensely at Yusei as she passes. (In the English version, Akiza says "Excuse me!" as she walked by) The other three quickly step out of her way. Leo wonders what her problem is.

While Gill Randsborg talks with Rex Goodwin and Lazar. He is surprised as Lazar informs him that his opponent, Akiza, is a Signer. Lazar asks that Randsborg act as their hound to expose her true identity. Randsborg states that he disdains completely from hounding young maidens. His expression changes after they tell him that she is the Black Rose Witch, who terrorizes the Daimon Area. Lazar offers him the chance to withdraw, as the Duel with be a fight for one's life. Randsborg draws his sword and raises it, pledging to slay the Witch.

The MC introduces Gill Randsborg, who raises his sword, promising to win the Duel. The audience cheers loudly in support of Randsborg. The MC next introduces Akiza Izinski, a mysterious girl whose merits are unknown. The audience begin to mutter amongst themselves. Leo is sure that he has seen her before, even earlier than her passing them in the hall. Luna reacts to Akiza's appearance, saying that her Deck seems to be in pain. A mysterious cloaked figure smiles as he waits for the duel to begin.

Randsborg starts the Duel, announcing that he will give her no mercy. After Akiza Summons "Black Rose Dragon", Yusei's dragon mark begins to react, while a strong breeze flows around the crowd, who stare in surprise. Randsborg and the audience recognize it as the card used by the Black Rose Witch. Greiger, who watches the duel with Yusei, tells him that "Black Rose Dragon" is a creature of ill omen that brings forth ruin and destruction. He also notes that Yusei seems to be familiar with it.

The audience are uneasy by the presence of the witch. They encourage Randsborg to be careful. Randsborg takes damage, which results in a small scratch. Randsborg gives the scratch a few strokes and dramatically demands that Akiza reveal her true identity. Akiza replies that she is not the same as any of them. Akiza later insults by Randsborg by manipulating his monster to damage him, to the effect that the monster is betraying him.

The audience lighten up and continue to cheer for Randsborg as he seemingly gains the upper hand and drops Akiza's Life Points to 50. But Akiza swiftly wins the next turn after reviving "Black Rose Dragon". Back in Rex Goodwin's box, Zigzix reports that were was no Ener-D response. Randsborg collapses after losing. This frightens the audience, who yell at the witch to leave. The cloaked figure smiles, saying Akiza's battle has just begun.

The MC announces the next duel, shall be a Turbo Duel between Yusei Fudo and Shira.

While Yusei works on his Duel Runner, Bolt Tanner tells him about how duelists who have faced Shira have become too scared to duel again. He asks Yusei if he'll use his recently retrieved "Stardust Dragon" in the upcoming duel. Yusei says that he is saving the card for his duel with Jack.

After looking at a holographic image of Jack Atlas, Hunter Pace swiftly speeds towards to the stadium on his Duel Runner, jumping over the guards. He manages to hide and disguise himself as a security officer, sending the guards off his trail.

While hiding, Hunter overhears Lazar talking to Shira. They wish for Shira to roughen up Yusei, but be cautious, since he is the one who defeated Jack. Hunter almost gives himself away as he gets excited. Hearing him, Shira throws a card, "Dokuroyaiba", in Hunter's direction. A mouse then rushes away. Assuming that to be the source of the noise, they don't spot Hunter. After they walk on, Hunter is seen with the card lodged into his helmet.

The MC warms up the crowd as he introduces the Turbo Duel. He first calls out Yusei. No cheers are heard from the crowd as some of them throw abuse at him regarding his marking. As Shira is announced, the crowd cheer for him, counting on him to beat the marked Yusei.

As both Duel Runners take off, Shira's cloak blows off, revealing him to be Hunter in disguise. The MC excitedly announces that the man, who made it his life to defeat the King is now dueling. Many people are surprised, but Lazar cooly stands next to Goodwin, neither of whom have reacted majorly to the turn of events, stating that Shira is out of commission. Shira is shown lying on the ground, beaten-up and stripped to his underwear, cursing Hunter.

The MC slightly nervous looks to a communication screen, with Goodwin. Goodwin says that it should prove entertaining. The MC refills with energy announcing that the duel has been approved.

Hunter Pace quickly begins building up Speed Counters. He manages to bring out his ace monster "Speed King Skull Flame" and lower Yusei's Life Points to 400.

Goodwin gets partly excited at this point, hoping for Yusei to play "Stardust Dragon". Hunter comes up from behind almost lapping Yusei. Yusei manages to use Hunter's high Level of Speed Counters against him. Along with a combo of many cards, Yusei manages to win.

Hunter sits up happy after the Duel. He says that it was a great Duel, but he won't lose next time.

An upset Zigzix looks at a meter, noting no rise in Ener-D levels. Goodwin says that Hunter lacked the strength to push Yusei. Lazar then says "that means next up is..." and begins laughing. Before he can continue, Jack stands up, demanding to know what the two of them have been up to behind his back.

While Lazar talks with Frank in a poorly lit chamber. Light peers in through a bared window, leaving most of Frank's face hidden in shadow. Lazar apologizes for having Frank lose his Duel on purpose, due to the turn of events. There is a certain duelist they would appreciate him saving his abilities for.

The crowd watch Yusei, who has just won his Turbo Duel against Hunter Pace. Leo boasts to Dexter about Yusei's skills, until he is shot down by Luna, who reminds him how he lost in the first round. Leo buries his shame, acting innocent, as he says Luna is the one who lost. As the two bicker the MC announces that Goodwin has made a proposition. All players who lost in the first round are to participate in a consolation game. Leo gets excited ready to play as Luna again.

As Leo looks though his Deck, considering reorganizing it, he asks Luna if he can borrow her clothes again. Another disagreement between the duo is cut off by the MC as he prepares to call out the participants in the next Duel. As Luna's name is called out, Leo stands up, without having made any change in outfit, but the spotlight drops on Luna.

In a competitor's room with Yusei, Greiger notes that this must be the real Luna, the imposter, he dueled, showed some fine dueling. He wonders how the real thing will fare. Luna gets uneasy, considering what to do. She doesn't want to duel, considering she gets really tired from dueling. So Luna decided to Duel for Leo so he could take her place for the rest of the tournament. The crowds chants for Luna begin to heat up. Leo sits back disappointed, that after getting a chance to duel Yusei, he's sorry to see it has to end like this. Luna reluctantly steps up and gathers her Duel Disk under her arms. (In the English version, she only did it to prove to him she can talk to Duel spirits)

As Luna leaves her companions, Yanagi asks Leo about her Deck. Leo tells him how Luna had built a "Spirit Deck", since she was able to communicate with Duel Spirits, who told her to make a Spirit Deck. Slightly puzzled, Tanner asks that he be ran by him again. Leo continues as he says that she gets tired after hearing the Spirit's voices, explaining why she gets tired after a Duel. Timidly Luna makes her way down a flight of steps to the arena with the spotlight and the audience's attention following her. (In the English version, he thinks it's make believe)

Meanwhile Jack having just learned Luna is a Signer talks with Rex Goodwin, who explains that the consolation game, is to affirm that she is a Signer. A click of his finger summons a holographic screen of Zigzix. While twirling, Zigzix takes lapses to explain that they need a small reading on his D-Sensor to prove she is a Signer. A wave of Goodwin's hand dismisses the projection. He then pulls another holographic screen of Luna. He touches some buttons on the screen, as he tells how they entered her in the tournament upon learning of an incident from eight years ago. A swish of his hand pushes the screen over to Jack and causes a number more screens of Luna eight years ago to crop up around it. He informs Jack, that eight years ago, Luna had fallen into a coma, while dueling. Pointing his finger in front of him calls up another projection of Leo in the audience. Leo had always been by her side, calling her name.

One month later she recovered, he explains. Lazar interrupts as Jack asks how this relates to Signers, telling him that after the coma, she claimed to have been in the World of Duel Monster Spirits for that time. Lazar works the magic with the projections as he brings up one of the Nazca Lines, while talking about theories of the origins of Duel Monsters. Goodwin continues that after the eight years, neither of the twins have any recollection of those events. He feels that taking her back to that world is in order, as they might learn her true power.

The MC calls out the prodigy Luna. Her Duel Disk fits on neatly, thanks to Yusei's adjustments. Frank is introduced. He walks out and bows to Luna, saying he is glad to meet her acquaintance. Uneasily, Luna lets out a "same". He asks how about finding the real her, hidden within the inner depths of her consciousness. Luna then hears another voice, make a squeaking whisper. She responds to it mentally, "Yeah, you have the same uneasy feeling".

Hoping to end the Duel as soon as possible, she Summons her first Spirit, "Sunny Pixie". Frank brings out "Symmetry Rorschach". He uses the monster to conduct the Rorschach test. He asks her what the monster looks like to her. Luna is bewildered by the circumstances, but in the crowd, Yanagi and Dexter call out that its "Crystal Skull" and a butterfly respectively, but Leo is worried about what Luna's opponent is up to. Reluctantly Luna says "A Spirit?", as the monster then takes on the form of her monster. The monster then grows a demonic head and attacks her "Sunny Pixie". Luna yells as her monster is destroyed by it. Frank's voice remains calm and open, says that the test has revealed that she is afraid. He then asks if she is afraid of spirits and fairies. Luna attempts to begin to explain that that's not how it is, but is cut off by Frank. He says it is fine, he shall clear any worries she has. To do so she must courageously enter the world of the Duel Monster Spirits. He is aware that she can talk to spirits, so deduces that her being in a world of spirits isn't strange at all. Luna wonders how such a world can exist.

Frank then uses "Symmetry Rorschach's" effect, revealing the top card of her Deck. Luna is slightly relieved to see "Kuribon". Frank, calm as always, asks her if she is able to hear its voice. Knowing it to be true, Luna begins to get more uneasy, she then turns to face Leo in the crowd, right before a flashback of her past. She hears Leo calling her name, but is unsure if that just happened or if she had imagined it. Leo begins to feel Luna's fear.

Frank continues the Duel, Sets two cards and passes to Luna. Luna brings out "Kuribon" to her aid. But Frank plays "Light to the Depths", hypnotizing her as he does so. The sixth card "Ancient Forest" is activated. After explaining its effect, Frank interprets it as a world that doesn't tolerate conflict.

Soon after Luna awakens in the World of Duel Monster Spirits. Despite the tranquility of the place, she still feels afraid. Back in reality, Luna remains in a trance. Frank plays "Gestalt Trap" on "Kuribon". In the Spirit world, the shackle from the Trap appears and wraps itself around "Kuribon". Followed by "Immortal Homeostasis", also targeting "Kuribon". Next Frank Tributes "Symmetry Rorschach" for "Ido the Supreme Magical Force". In the Spirit World, Luna attempts to attend to "Kuribon", but is then confronted by Frank's monster.

In reality, Luna remains motionless. The crowd begin to yell at her, that she's going to lose, if she continues like this. Dexter notices Leo is experiencing the same loss in concentration.

"Kuribon" takes "Ido the Supreme Magical Force's", blow but survives due to the effect of "Immortal Homeostasis". Despite its survival Frank explains that "Kuribon" experiences a world of pain, due to its immortality. He then reminds Luna of her true mission. Remembering conflict isn't tolerated in the forest, Luna watches Ido get destroyed. Her smile of relief is cut short as it revives itself.

In reality, the tranced Luna draws and takes damage from "Immortal Homeostasis" before Summoning "Sunlight Unicorn" and equipping it with "Horn of the Unicorn". In the English version, "Sunlight Unicorn" is incorrectly shown as a Level 8 monster; it is actually Level 4. In the Spirit World, the unicorn appears ready to assist Luna. A voice than begins calling her name. She looks around and the voice asks her, if she came to fulfill her promise to protect the Duel Monster Spirit World from the evil ones.

Still in the World of the Duel Monster Spirits, Luna stands facing Sunlight Unicorn with Kuribon at her feet, anxious of a voice calling her. The voice calls her to come this way, reminding her that she promised to protect this world. Luna disagrees, not remembering making such a promise. Suddenly Ido the Supreme Magical Force appears, confronting her. Sunlight Unicorn leaps forward attacking and destroying it. The forest begins to shake, since it does not tolerate conflict, Sunlight Unicorn is destroyed. Determined to not let Sunlight Unicorn die, Luna concentrates.

Meanwhile in reality, Frank says that he'd like it if she told him what kind of world it is. Yanagi, Tanner and Dexter cheer Luna on from the stands, while Leo remains in a trance. In the competitor's box room, Yusei notices something is wrong with Luna and leaves. The tranced Luna uses "Horn of the Unicorn's" effect, returning it to the top of her Deck. She then uses "Emergency Assistance" reviving "Sunlight Unicorn" and uses its effect to add "Horn of the Unicorn" from the top of her Deck to her hand. She then reequips it to "Sunlight Unicorn", Sets 2 cards and ends her turn.

In the Spirit's World, Sunlight Unicorn is reunited with Luna, but Ido has also revived itself. Ido progress toward Luna, but she climbs onto Sunlight Unicorn, accompanied by Kuribon. Together they dash away from Ido. Luna observes the change in scenery, the previously flourishing trees are now replaced with the bare rotten ones. The mysterious voice explains how the evil ones intents have polluted the world, as they try to bring the power of the Spirits into their dirty clutches.

Sunlight Unicorn stops at the dry remains of a river, where a large crag stands behind it. The source of the voice is revealed to come from this feature. Luna glares forward heeding the shape of a large dragon on the face of the crag. Startled, Luna proclaims that she knows that dragon, Ancient Fairy Dragon. A gush of water quickly fills the dry river. Luna shields herself, with her arm. After lowering her hand, Luna now stands alone at her side of the river, now appears in its past beauty. A younger version of herself plays there with Kuribon, Sunny Pixie, Key Mace, Watapon, Spirit of the Breeze, Jerry Beans Man, Kuribon, Dancing Fairy and Petit Angel, while Ancient Fairy Dragon, in its prime watches over them. Young Luna creates a garland of flowers and places it on Kuribon, as a crown. The crown falls apart as the flowers wither.

Ancient Fairy Dragon explains that this is happening because of the intent of the evil ones, who draw nearer to this world. Eventually they will try invade, pollute and twist its control to their desire. However there is one person, who can stop them, Luna. The world is linked to her thoughts, her good mind will repel away the mind of evildoers. Ancient Fairy Dragon, asks Luna to stay. Luna considers the idea. She gets lonely in reality, with her parents always away and Leo only thinking of himself. But this place is fun. She says that she'll stay there to protect them. The present Luna now remembers making that promise.

Back in the real world, Yusei dashes into the arena. He calls Luna, but gets no response. He turns to Frank and notices that he too is now tranced. The tranced Leo in the stands is calling to Luna, where his consciousness lies. Leo then falls onto Dexter's lap. Tanner quickly checks him, finding that he's unconscious. Yanagi suggests that they take him to the infirmary.

Luna remembers back then, when she made the promise, but then, she heard Rua's voice. The flashback at the other side of the river, reruns that moment and Leo is heard calling her name. Back then she got scared, she deserted them cause of Leo's cries. But she confesses, she was afraid, afraid to protect them, by herself. So she tried to forget about them and locked this world away in her mind. She hears a growling noise and turns to find Ido, now behind her.

In reality, Yusei anxiousness elevates, as he spots a dragon birthmark glowing on Luna's arm. In Goodwin's box room, Zigzix on a floating screen reports a Ener-D reading. "There's no doubt she's a Signer," he says, while hyperactively holding up his D-Sensor showing them the reading. Yusei watches Frank draw a card.

Ido disappears from the Spirit World, leaving Frank now standing in its place. Having now lost his calm nature, he excitedly declares that for Luna to send him to this place, she really is a Signer. Luna is unaware of what a Signer is. Frank tells her that there are individuals, who desire her powers. Ido reappears behind him. Luna is now confused and states that she doesn't have any powers, why her? She then orders to leave her alone. Surrounding trees begin to crumble, while a dark shadowy matter spreads around from below Frank. Terrified, Luna begins call for Leo, to start calling out to her, like he did last time to bring her back home. She hears Leo calling her name and looks around for him. She stares at her reflection in a nearby puddle, which changes to Leo's face and alternates between their faces each time one of them speaks. Leo says "You made a promise with them, didn't you?", that he wants to be strong like Yusei and that he'll protect her, so she can protect this world. The puddle disappears and a chunk falls from the crag.

Luna stands up saying that she will. At this point, her eyes return to normal in reality. She declares to the carving of Ancient Fairy Dragon, that she will protect this world. She turns to face Frank. Her Duel Disk reappears on her arm and her and Franks cards assume their positions on the field. She activates her Trap Card, "Pixie Ring", preventing him from attacking "Kuribon" anymore. Frank activates "Wave of Ill Intent". "Ido the Supreme Magical Force" attacks "Sunlight Unicorn" causing Frank to lose 300 Life Points, but also causing Luna to also loses 300 Life Points, due to "Wave of Intent Evil's" effect. Then he plays "Spirit Contamination" destroying "Pixie Ring", which was shielding "Kuribon". "Ido" then revives itself. Luna begins her turn and takes damage from "Immortal Homeostasis". Luna Sets a card and activates "Healing Wind" bringing her Life Points back to 1500.

Frank laughs maniacally saying he would be happy to defeat her, happy to see the look on the Spirits' faces when this world suffers. More of the scenery crumbles as he laughs. Luna says that she cannot let him do this. "Ido" attacks "Kuribon" and Luna activates "Fairy Wind", destroying all other face-up Spell and Trap Cards. "Kuribon's" ATK returns to normal and "Ido's" attack continues. Luna activates "Kuribon's" effect, returning it to her hand and canceling the damage, but also raising Frank's Life Points. She refuses to let him harm any anybody in this world. Frank laughs saying that he'll just pollute the world then, causing more parts of the scenery to fall apart.

The fossilized Ancient Fairy Dragon emerges from the crag. It grabs Frank who is now so caught up in his laughter, he doesn't realize what is happening. Luna pleas with her to settle down. Her pleas come to no effect, so she tries to save Frank by ending the Duel. She activates "Oberon's Prank", negating Frank's last Life Point gain and inflicting to same amount as damage to both players, dropping both their Life Points to 0.

Back in reality, both players regain their consciousness. Frank falls backwards. Luna sees him stand back up and is thankful he survived. Yusei catches Luna as she falls and carries her away from the Duel Field. She asks where Leo is, as Yusei tells her where Leo is.

In the infirmary, Leo wakes up saying that he felt like he was dreaming, but has no memory of his dreams. He asks how Luna got on. Dexter directs their attention to a screen projection, where the MC announces, with a tone of regret, that the Duel has ended in a tie. He buries his face in is arms, saying that its a double elimination. This shocks Leo overall after hearing it.

Yusei observes Luna's dragon birthmark disappear as he carries her. Luna sees a spirit of Kuribon and tells it that she will protect them. She then leaps out of Yusei's arms, claiming to be okay and can walk herself. Yusei tells her that he is glad to have her back. She gives one last wave to the crowd as she departs the arena. Luna's hand is then shown spinning the "Ancient Fairy Dragon" card.

Leo is furious with Luna for forcing the game into a tie. Luna says that it's better than a loss. She also says she wasn't going to win anyway at that rate. Luna notes that Leo seems to have no memory of talking to her in the Duel Monster Spirits World. She begins to wonder what Frank meant by Signer. Looking down, she fingers her sleeve, considering checking her arm, where the dragon birthmark was showing. Yanagi asks if she's okay, while the others point out that she spaced out for a while during the Duel. However Lunaassures them that she's fine.

Yusei tells the twins that he'll take them home today, shortly before the MC announces the end of day 1 and draws up the standings for the semi-finals. Leo's eyes fall on Yusei's next opponent, Greiger, as he recalls his Duel with Greiger in the first round. Tanner says that Greiger shall be a formidable opponent. Yusei agrees. Since it's a Turbo Duel, Tanner is interested in what kind of Duel Runner Greiger has. This catches Leo's attention. Leo figures knowing about Greiger's Duel Runner in advance might give Yusei the upper hand. Leo tells the others to go without him, since he's just remembered that he has to do something.

Later on Blister and a few others walk off a cargo ship into a harbor in Satellite. A bald man walking off the ship hands a notepad to a man at the harbor, who checks it and tells them that they're loading recycling material tonight and asks if they can make it in time for departure. The bald man turns to the others coming off the ship and tells them to do what they like until then. A driver starts calling people over to his van to come this way to the Satellite black market. Blister joins the driver, who is familiar with him and sits in the back.

Lazar hands Greiger a card, telling him they've readied the card he spoke of. Greiger slides it into the Deck box strapped to his leg. Lazar mentions that it is a powerful card. Greiger has a chance of beating Yusei, if he masters that card, Lazar says. Goodwin explains that they are counting on him to awaken Yusei's qualifications as Signer. Greiger says that he understands and brings up the topic of when Goodwin's goal is reached. Goodwin continues his sentence that then KaibaCorp will provide the aid reconstruct Greiger's village. He asks Greiger how long he has been away from his village. Greiger promptly replies, 1 year and 116 days. In order to return ASAP, he plans to carry out his mission without fail.

Greiger leaves the room. Where he is confronted by Jack in the hallway. Jack tells Greiger that he is in the way. Greiger turns to the side, sarcastically saying "Pardon my manners... King". Jack abruptly says that he meant, him as a whole is in the way. Jack continues that Yusei will advance in the tournament either way. Only he, himself, is capable of defeating Yusei. Greiger facing him is just a waste of time. Greiger tells Jack that he is a pathetic king. Swiftly Jack unsuccessfully punches at Greiger without any consideration. Greiger simply blocks the blow catching Jack's fist. Greiger continues that Jack hasn't even noticed his own mission. Jack asks "What mission?", but Greiger simply replies that he also has a mission, one which Jack cannot stop.

Soon after Leo sneaks around a storage area. He comes to Greiger's garage and climbs in through the window. After turning on his flashlight, he is frightened upon seeing what he thinks is a ghost. His screams and set off an alarm.

Meanwhile Yusei is at Tops in the twin's apartment. He sits to dinner with Luna, who notes that Leo is late. Yusei gets up to search for Leo. Luna says that she's coming too. But Yusei refuses, telling her that she needs rest. Luna assures him that she's fine, but she'll feel worse if she stays. Much later Greiger arrives at his garage, finding Leo asleep.

The driver advises Blister to be on the look out for Securities as he leaves. Using an electronic tracer he finds his way to Yusei's friend's base. He calls out for Rally, Nervin, Blitz and Tank, but the place is in a mess and no one was there. He contacts Yusei via the monitor on Yusei's Duel Runner. He informs him that he didn't find his friends, but he broke into their network and found no record of them being caught by Security, but he'll keep up his search.

Greiger emerges from an alley, with Leo over his shoulder. He says he'll explain later, but not to worry Leo is not injured. Together they all go back to Tops. After Luna falls asleep, Yusei and Greiger step outside. Greiger explains that his security system must have went off, locking Leo inside. He deduces that Leo had come to find his Duel Runner. He lets Yusei know he is aware, Leo did not act under his instructions. Greiger explains that he would not blame Leo. He knows how fond he is of Yusei. Greiger relates, explaining how Leo and Luna remind him of his brother and sister back home.

Greiger stares into the night sky, noting the lack of a single star. He turns to Yusei and asks him what he is fighting. Yusei prompty replies proudly that he is fighting for his hometown. Greiger informs him that they are both fighting for the same reason. Greiger begin to tell his story. He is from the other side of the world. His tribe descends from those who served the People of the Stars. Yusei points out that he must know of the Crimson Dragon. Greiger continues that the Crimson Dragon is attempting to resurface and Goodwin plans using its power to lead the world in the right direction.

Yusei asks if he believes that. Greiger reminds Yusei that they are both from poor towns and says that Goodwin promised to help his town if he co-operated. Yusei tries to convince him not to trust Goodwin. Slightly upset, Greiger says that they are cut from the same cloth, but they are in different positions. Neither of them can compromise their beliefs. Yusei's eyes tighten, before he announces that their Duel shall stand to that. Greiger leaves saying he is glad to have learned Yusei is a proud duelist, but vows that he will win tomorrow.

The MC calls out the standings for today's first Duel. Yanagi looks around their seats and asks where Leo is. Luna informs him that Leo had something to tell Yusei.

As Yusei prepares for the Duel, Leo comes over to him, apologizing for last night. Yusei understands, but orders Leo to apologize to Greiger after the Duel, regardless of whether he wins or loses. Leo promises, before Yusei leaves as he races out for his Turbo Duel, MC introduced him as "the Shooting Star of Satellite". The crowd's attitude to Yusei has now melted away as he finally receives cheers from them.

Next Greiger, "the Black Storm", speeds out of his tunnel, leaving the audience in awe at the size of his Duel Runner. Jack sits unstimulated by the Runner, but remarking on having a look at Greiger's "mission".

The players line up. Greiger vows that he will win, but changes his words and announces that he must win! Greiger quickly Summons his ace monster "Flying Fortress SKY FIRE". Stating to have Yusei frozen in place, he will win and carry out his mission.

Yusei continues his Turbo Duel with Greiger. Greiger's strategy seems to keep Yusei on the ropes. Yusei draws "Turbo Booster" during the Duel, reminding him of Rally. Greiger later plays "Chariot Pile", the card which Lazar gave him before the Duel. This causes some spikes to protrude from the wheel of the Duel Runner. Regardless, through various combos Yusei turns the Duel around, swiftly winning.

Leo is surprised to see that "Chariot Pile" is still attached to Greiger's Duel Runner. Goodwin is disappointed that Yusei still hasn't revealed himself as a Signer. Jack gets up to leave, stating that Greiger's mission ran shallow after all.

After the MC declares Yusei the winner, Yusei rides over to check on Greiger. Greiger rises up and holds his hand to his face in a manner similar to if he was holding a microphone. At the same time the MC's microphone stops working. Greiger's voice is heard from the speakers throughout the stadium, as he announces that Goodwin is responsible for the annihilation of his entire village. This sparks Jack's attention. Greiger draws up the images of his village and its destruction on the overhead monitors. Lazar demands that they halt the imagery, but Goodwin says to leave it. Greiger heard his family was killed in his room because a lady told him. In the English version, he heard it in Rex's office while a guy was transmitting a signal to Goodwin in his office.

Lazar is astonished that Greiger knows of this destruction and considers that there may have been a survivor, and that Greiger has been able to override the airwaves. Jack is shocked by the sight of the destruction left by Rex's experiment to summon the Crimson Dragon.

Greiger then calls to Yusei and Jack, telling them that they can't expect to win by playing by Goodwin's rules. He then hops on his Duel Runner, picks up speed racing around the circuit and ramps towards Goodwin's tower. Yusei speeds on his own Duel Runner in the opposite direction, colliding with Greiger's Runner and manages to knock him off course. The spike from "Chariot Pile" breaks off and crashes towards Rex Goodwin's tower. Rex grabs the spinning spike in one hand. The impact tears up his glove, revealing he has a mechanical hand. Lazar falls to the floor in shock, while Jack looks at Rex in disgust.

Greiger gets up and seizes Yusei, demanding to know why he stopped him. Yusei replies that he's not pleased at what Goodwin has done either, but settling things by force would have made Greiger just as bad as Goodwin. Greiger releases Yusei and lets out a scream.

After Greiger's attempted assault on Rex Goodwin, Goodwin hides his hand behind his back and produces a number of monitors throughout the stadium. He appears on the monitors and ensures the audience that as director of the Public Security Maintenance Bureau, it is his duty to protect them, even if it means his life. The crowd cheers. Sayer, who stands in the crowd, slightly impressed, notes that Goodwin has just smooth talked his way into calming the situation.

As the security takes Greiger away, he turns to Yusei telling him he must carry out his mission.

Amongst towers of books, Commander Koda looks up details on Akiza on a computer. He holds up his Deck, telling Lazar that all the information on Akiza from the last sixteen years has been compiled into these forty cards. He says that he will expose what they want, and when he does he'll want five times his pay.

Meanwhile in Goodwin's box room, Goodwin asks Jack if he is surprised about his mechanical hand. And tells him that he had lost his arm in an accident.

As Akiza stares at the Black Rose Witch mask, Sayer asks her if she is afraid. Akiza replies that she is going to hurt people again. Sayer places his hand on her shoulder and tells her not to be afraid, she is the future of psychic duelists. He reminds her that he had told her she would part with the mask when she realized her pride and mission. He takes the mask from her, telling her to proudly show her beautiful face and let them know of her existence.

The MC calls out the players for the second semi-final. First out is the Duel Entrepreneur, Commander Koda. He declares Akiza as the person whose impact from the first round is still fresh in mind, the Black Rose Witch, Akiza.

Most of the crowd are uneasy with her present. Yanagi on the other hand, infatuated with her powers, says that he'd like to be friends with the witch. Meanwhile Yusei and Tanner, who are in a garage as Yusei works away at his Duel Runner, observe the Duel on a monitor. Tanner asks Yusei what he thinks of the witch. Yusei replies that the Duel will tell.

Akiza goes first and Summons "Violet Witch". Next she activates "Black Garden", engulfing the arena in thorns and roses. Koda accuses her of hiding away in her world. Akiza pauses and ignores him as she sets a card and ends her turn.

As Koda begins his turn he says that he knows why she plays "Black Garden". She wishes to be able to make friends, but this is the attitude her friends and family took. Koda Sets a card in the Spell & Trap Card Zone and ends his turn. He says that the card symbolizes all the people Akiza has met before. He continues that no one wants to be friends with a witch. Akiza stands still, seemingly unaffected by his words. Koda promptly points to her eyes, saying that everyone is afraid of those unwavering eyes that gaze hard at others.

Goodwin is impressed with how the Duel is progressing. He and Lazar explain the nature of Koda's Duels to Jack. He composes his Deck based on studies of his opponent. Koda revealed Aki's Psychic Duelist status, and Lazar saying that they're fragile monsters who've been doing rallies in secret. In the English version, Lazar was ambitious and said if Akiza was in the organization, perhaps that could lead them to even greater power.

Akiza attacks Koda directly with "Violet Witch". The MC points out that as expected the assault has, in reality, also harmed Koda. Koda declares that once again Akiza has hurt others through dueling and calls her a Psychic Duelist. This sparks a reaction from Akiza. Koda continues that three years ago, on May 15, she hurt a classmate using the same card. That was the first instance where she used her powers - at a Duel Academy (in the English version, the classmate is changed to Koda himself, and the Duel Academy that Akiza attended is changed to the one from Yu-Gi-Oh! GX). Since then she was feared by everyone and began to drift away from them.

Just like his face-down card. Akiza is surprised and wonders how he could've know about the incident. Koda accuses her powers of being sinful and in need of punishment. he then reveals his face-down card, "Crime and Punishment", which destroys "Violet Witch". Akiza uses its effect to add "Phoenixian Cluster Amaryllis" to her hand. Koda deems this to be another card rich in significance to the past sixteen years. Using the effect of "Crime and Punishment", he Summons "Agent of Hatred" in Defense Position. "Black Garden" halves its ATK and Special Summons a "Rose Token" to Akiza's side of the field. Koda uses the effect of "Agent of Hatred" to regain the Life Points he lost.

Akiza Summons "Phoenixian Seed". "Black Garden" halves its ATK and Special Summons a "Rose Token" to Koda's side of the field. Following this she activates "Rose Flame", inflicting 500 damage to Koda. Koda falls to one knee. His clothes are now slightly tattered from the damage he's been taking. As he gets up, he asks if they are re-enacting the incident from when she was five, the same day she first won a Duel. A flashback shows young Akiza dueling someone, who gets flung into a wall. Young Akiza stands surprised at the situation, with her dragon birthmark glowing. Koda claims, the thrill of winning for the first time awakened the powers which had lied subconsciously within her. In the Japanese version, the flames are orange. In the English version, the flames are purple. Akiza, now slightly distressed, points out that her powers do more than damage that which is around her. They damage people's hearts. And yet they continue to increase. As she speaks flashbacks of her at the Duel Academy are shown.

Before Koda begins his next turn, he calls her a monster and says this world is for humans. Koda plays "Mind Monster", selecting "Black Rose Dragon". "Mind Monster" produces a lump of slime on Kodo's side of the field. The crowd start to utter amongst themselves about his choice. The Slime takes on the form of "Black Rose Dragon", which fires a blast at Akiza. The crowd are pleased to see her take damage. Koda changes his "Rose Token" to Defense Position and ends his turn.

Akiza draws "Rose Curse". She stares at it thinking to herself, "Even if the wounds on ones body heal, the wounds on their mind will never fade away". Flashbacks show her in a Black Rose Witch attire, with many people running in fear from her. She turns pain into power, she thinks to herself. Still in the flashback, she takes the mask off, before Sayer offers her his hand. He was the man who taught her this. Sayer says that he is from the Arcadia Movement. While it is in no comparison to hers, he has similar powers. Koda snaps her back into reality, asking her what's wrong, doesn't the Arcadia Movement have their hopes in her power.

Lazar notes that he has finally brought Arcadia Movement into this. He describes this organization as a utopia for psychic duelists, fragile monsters that have been organizing actions and rallies in secret.

Akiza announces that she has come here for those who believe in her. She has a power that they need. She sends "Phoenixian Seed" to the Graveyard to Summon "Phoenixian Cluster Amaryllis". "Black Garden" halves its ATK and Summons another "Rose Token" to Koda's field, causing Koda to take another 500 damage from "Rose Flame". "Phoenixian Cluster Amaryllis" attacks the "Rose Token". "Phoenixian Cluster Amaryllis" gets destroyed from its own effect and inflicts 800 damage to Koda, who falls to the ground. The effect of "Agent of Hatred" effect allows Koda to regain some of the Life Points he just lost. Koda begins to stand up, badly beaten from the attacks. He feels that she is trying to take his life. If his Life Points hit 0, payment will be the least of his worries. This isn't worth his life, he thinks. Akiza Sets a card and ends her turn. "Phoenixian Cluster Amaryllis" returns to her field, with "Black Garden" halving its ATK and Summoning another Token to Kodo's side of the field, and "Rose Flame" inflicts another 500 damage to Koda.

Koda Tributes his three Tokens to Special Summon "Mad Profiler", whose ATK gets halved from "Black Garden". A "Rose Token" is Summoned to Akiza's side. Koda begins to fear for his life. The job and money are no longer important to him. He just needs to win and get out quickly. He uses the effect of "Mad Profiler", discarding "Reload" to remove "Black Garden" from play. Its ATK returns to normal. Next he discards "Mind on Air" to remove "Phoenixian Cluster Amaryllis" from play. "Mad Profiler" attacks the Attack Position "Rose Token", but it's not destroyed, however Akiza still takes damage from the attack. The crowd begin to cheer. Koda equips it with "Destruction Insurance". Tanner notes that this means if "Mad Profiler" gets destroyed, Akiza's Life Points will hit 0 as she will take damage equal to half the ATK of "Mad Profiler". Koda next equips it with "Lightlow Protection". Tanner explains that cards effect to Yusei and that Koda is doing this in response to that monster, "Black Rose Dragon".

While in a orange aura, Akiza's hair curler falls, leaving her bangs trailing over her face and a menacing aura emanating from her. Akiza Summons "Twilight Rose Knight" and tunes it with her two "Rose Tokens" to Synchro Summon "Black Rose Dragon". Yusei's arm begins to ache in response to the appearance of the dragon. The audience are slightly scared, but Koda calls Akiza to bring it on, he'll turn the tables. He than calls Akiza a monster, who has been abandoned by her parents. With Akiza greatly upset by this the pin falls from her hair causing long bangs to flow in front of her face, in a similar manner to when she is the Black Rose Witch. Akiza vows that he will not get away with trampling on the feelings of others. Koda sneers and points out that with his Equip Spells and "Hate Agent", he cannot lose.

Akiza activates the effect "Black Rose Dragon", removing "Phoenixian Seed" from play to reduce "Mad Profiler's" ATK to 0. Koda uses the effect of "Lightlow Protection" to destroy "Black Rose Dragon". Akiza's dragon birthmark begins to glow, confirming her to be a Signer. Lazar points out that Koda has performed his duty after all. Akiza then plays "Rose Curse", explaining how the card works and the damage that Koda will take. She then lets out "Sic him". Rose petals speedily fly around Koda, ripping chunks out of the ground as they do so.

After the petals clear, Koda is left lying in a hole, left as a result of the torn concrete. The MC calls out that an emergency squad is needed there and that Akiza will be in the finals.

Impresed with Akiza's performance, Sayer feels the finals will truly test her powers and since her Duel is against Yusei, she must keep her guard up. Tanner asks Yusei what he made of Akiza's card. Yusei feels there is rejection and anger in Akiza, but there's still something else lying dormant.

The MC has just declared Akiza Izinski the winner of her Duel against Commander Koda and that she will advance to the finals, where she'll face Yusei Fudo. Meanwhile in Yusei's garage, Tanner asks Yusei what he thinks of Akiza's card. Yusei remarks that there's rejection and anger, but there's something else lying dormant.

Later in a hallway, Yusei meets Akiza. Akiza grasps her arm over her dragon birthmark. Yusei reflects on their meeting in Daimon Area, where Akiza had called his birthmark a wretched mark. Yusei asks her why she feels as such about the birthmark and what does it mean to her. Akiza replies that she detests all who have the mark. Their talk is interrupted as Leo and Luna dash over, looking for Yusei, to tell him it's almost time for the final. They both gasp in fright, as they notice Akiza, who Leo calls the Witch lady. Akiza briefly looks at Luna in disgust but her expression quickly changes to one of empathy, which Luna notices.

Lazar walks over joining the crowd. He congratulates Akiza on her win in the previous round and says that Goodwin would like a word with her. Sayer and two other men appear and stand between Akiza and the others. They tell Lazar that Akiza is tired. Lazar asks who they are, to which Sayer replies that they could just say he is Akiza's caretaker. He points out that Lazar's group have already done an investigation and that they must get her back into shape before the finals. Together they escort her away, leaving Lazar to remark "what an fraudulent group, playing the mystic angel as they do".

Yusei steps over to Lazar and coldly asks where he put Rally and the others. Lazar tells says that Yusei should watch where he stands in this, otherwise. He snickers and walks off. Leo notes that the witch is scary. Luna tells the two boys that Akiza isn't so. When she sees Akiza, her arm and heart both throb.

Two large trucks with the Arcadia Movement logo on them, guarded by a number of cloaked figures is parked outside. Aki's treatment chamber Akiza's treatment. Inside one of them, Akiza is lying in a water filled chamber. Sayer appears on a screen above her face. He explains with people knowing of their existence in this tournament, they are risk. Akiza talks back, explaining how she understands, her mission is to make at the Arcadia Movement known across the world and that her heart is rightly guided by Sayer.

Sayer continues that with Iliaster's ambition to resurrect the Crimson Dragon people are still unaware that they are trying to get the world to kneel before them through the Crimson Dragon. However they, themselves, who have abilities bestowed upon them from the Gods are the only ones aware.

Sayer considers that Yusei may be a member of Iliaster, but Akiza should be fine, once she beats him and then Iliaster's puppet, Jack. The peoples jeers will turn to cheers, he says, at the time they realize their ideals at hand.

The monitor dismisses, leaving Akiza alone. "That wretched mark", she remarks again, before having flashbacks of causing accidents with her power and meeting Yusei at Daimon Area. Makes her angrily grab her mark.

Yusei stares at his Deck. He recollects on the feelings he has seen within Akiza, rejection and anger. Both of them point to her birthmark. A third feeling seems to be concealed by those two. He remembers what Luna said about Akiza causing heart and birthmark to throb. He pictures all the people he has met with the birthmarks, assured that the marks are trying to bring them together. The Arcadia Movement, he feels, will do the same to Akiza as a Signer. They must not let people use them like this, he thinks, and for that to happen he has to open Akiza's heart and meet the true her. He pulls "Stardust Dragon" out of his pocket and adds it to his Deck, feeling he has to give this all he has.

Akiza tells Sayer that she is going now. Sayer adjusts her hair clip telling her that when it seems like she's going to give way to her powers, it will help her. He assures her that she's going to win. Akiza looks down at her Black Rose mask on a table before she leaves.

The crowd hurls abuse at Akiza and encourage Yusei, although still referring to him as Satellite scum. Yanagi notices their behavior and remarks that Akiza is just an innocent kid. Tanner points out that the fact still stands that she is implanting fear in them with her powers. Leo asks, why, with her being this scary, are all these people here. Tanner tells him that people are cruel, they know there'll be in danger, but they come to watch the sight of someone they despise being slaughtered.

Lazar apologizes to Goodwin for not being able to bring Akiza to him for a word. Goodwin tells him not to get too worked up over it. Although the Arcadia Movement oppose them, Akiza is still doing a job that is important to them. She is a suitable opponent to draw out Yusei's potential as a Signer. He turns to Jack and tells him that he'd like to witness the energy generated by "Red Dragon Archfiend" and "Stardust Dragon" for himself. Jack remarks that he'll let Goodwin experience so much of it that he'll wish he didn't.

The MC calls out that they have reached the finals. The winner will face Jack and have a chance of overthrowing him as King. Both contestants are called out. Again Akiza is jeered at. Kuribon appears next to Luna. Both of them are worried about this Duel. The Duel starts off lightly. The MC wonders could this be the calm before the storm.

After Akiza Summons "Rose Tentacles" while Yusei has four "Ivy Tokens", and prepares to do massive damage with multiple attacks, a large portion of the audience get up to run for cover. Yusei feels the rejection and anger as he takes the blows. But he can also feel the other emotion. The last attack leaves Yusei suspended in the air from the tentacles. Yusei looks down at Akiza and sees her smiling. He opens his mouth to say something, but is dropped suddenly to the ground.

Yusei staggers to his feet to make his move. He says to Akiza that he has figured out her other emotion. Aside from rejection and anger, she enjoys the destruction that she brings and she likes using her powers. Akiza considers Yusei's words.

Akiza and Yusei continue their Duel. Akiza smiles as she inflicts more damage to Yusei with "Rose Tentacles". Yusei responds, saying that he was right, Akiza does enjoy inflicting pain. Slightly taken back, Akiza attacks him again. Yusei blocks with "Card Defense". As he begins his Turn, Yusei brings back the topic of Akiza enjoying inflicting pain. She tells him to quit saying that, including that he's speaking nonsense.

Yusei slightly turns the tables with "Junk Warrior" on his turn. The crowd are pleased to see Yusei take the upper hand. But Luna is anxious. She notices that Yusei isn't just fighting, he's trying to do something for Akiza.

Akiza brings out "Black Rose Dragon" on her turn. Yusei's Mark of the Dragon lights up on his arm. She begins to lay onslaught on "Junk Warrior", but Yusei protects it and his Life Points with "Shield Warrior" and "Spirit Force". People begin to flee as the blast from "Black Rose Dragon" tears through the stand behind Yusei. The audience begins to hurl more abuse at Akiza, calling her a witch and telling her to scram.

Akiza says it's true, she is the Witch, a frightful woman, who inflicts pain enjoys doing so. She laughs and explains that she finds it fun inflicting pain to those who drove her into solitude with her powers. Yusei solemnly stares back at her. "She enjoys it", he thinks, "but does she herself truly take pleasure in it?".

Yusei Summons "Junk Synchron" and uses it to revive "Speed Warrior". Leo gets excited, seeing as this causes "Junk Warrior" to gain ATK. But Yusei tunes his "Junk" monsters to Synchro Summon "Stardust Dragon". Yanagi wonders if this could be Yusei's Signer dragon. Leo is confused as to why Yusei didn't keep "Junk Warrior" who was stronger, but Luna assures him that Yusei is trying something. The rest of the audience stare in awe at the magnificent dragon.

Akiza utters about the "wretched mark". Thinking if she didn't have this power... Yusei exclaims that she never enjoyed her powers nor did she ever take pleasure in other's pain. Akiza concurs and explains that the birthmark is a wretched mark engraved into the monsters, who have transcended past people. This is why she hates herself, she tells him. Flashbacks of Akiza using her powers in the past are shown. But the more she invited destruction, the more they changed to impulses for destruction. She gave up being herself, she explains and lifts the Black Rose Witch mask in front of her face, saying she created another self.

While wearing the mask, she is not herself, she continues. She is not indifferent to enjoying destruction or laughing at pain. That is when Sayer told her that she didn't need the mask. She is fine how she is. Those words saved her. She no longer needs to think, she only needs to live. Yusei interrupts, concernedly telling her that she needs to think on her own. Akiza shakes her head, saying she doesn't care, Sayer will think for her. Yusei shouts over, telling her not to run from it. Melancholically, Akiza says that she has to, she can't do anything. Yusei calls across that she can, the person who rejects that pleasure is inside her and as long as she feels that way she can still start over. There's still time for her to save herself. Upset, she quietly asks him to shut up.

Yusei feels he can reach out to her. He orders "Stardust Dragon" to attack "Black Rose Dragon". He, Akiza, Luna and Jack's arms all begin to throb as their birthmarks react. A few petals are scattered as "Black Rose Dragon" is destroyed. "All I can do is feel", Akiza thinks as she lifts her mask towards her face and puts it on. This stirs some reaction among the audience. Akiza really is a naughty girl, Sayer jokes.

Akiza begins her turn and revives "Black Rose Dragon" with "Wicked Rebirth". She activates its effect, "Black Rose Gale" to clear the field. The audience brace themselves. Seeing the danger they are in Yusei uses "Stardust Dragon's" effect, "Victim Sanctuary", Tributing "Stardust Dragon" to negate "Black Rose Dragon's" effect and destroy it. Jack comments that Yusei is the same as ever.

Akiza continues her turn. She Summons "Phoenixian Cluster Amaryllis" as uses it to take out "Speed Warrior" and drop Yusei to his last 400 Life Points. "Amaryllis'" effect tears small chunks of concrete from the arena. One of which springs back at Akiza's face, knocking a chunk off her mask. Both dragons and "Amaryllis" are revived at the end of her turn.

Yusei begins his turn and thinks up a plan for victory after discovering he has drawn "Cosmic Blast". Akiza did not seem to be aware of the face-down card ("Cosmic Blast") Yusei had before he activated it. In the English version, she is aware of it and asks him if it will be enough to prevent him from losing. Soon after he switches "Stardust Dragon" to Defense Position and equips it with "Prevention Star". On this note, Akiza uses "Synchro Back", returning "Black Rose Dragon" to her Extra Deck, to be Special Summoned again next turn, allowing her to use its effect. Yusei ends his turn by setting 1 card.

Akiza begins her turn, reviving "Black Rose Dragon". Her arm starts to throb as she does so. "Not so fun, is it?" Yusei asks. Akiza tells him to shut up. "It hurts, doesn't it?", Yusei asks. Worried, Akiza wonders why it's beginning to throb and why she isn't finding this fun. Yusei announces that the time for her to change has come. Her pleasure for destruction, which has tormented her all this time.

"Hasn't the pain changed into a pain that those who bear the birthmark all share?" he asks. The mark is calling them, he suspects and for them to find the answer, they must think on their own. "Couldn't it be that the birthmark holds the answer?" Akiza responds to his words, asking what does a witch like her need to think about. As long as Sayer shows her the way and loves her, she proceeds. Yusei won't have this. He interrupts, telling her that she needs to love herself. Akiza claims to be incapable of doing that. Annoyed, she yells that to Yusei and asks if he can see that she's suffering. Her hair clip falls out in her rage.

Akiza's hair falls into its familiar bangs as she activates "Black Rose Dragon's" effect once more. Yusei uses "Stardust Dragon's" effect once again Tributing it to negate the effect and destroy "Black Rose Dragon". Akiza notices the pain fade, but with "Phoenixian Cluster Amaryllis" now freed from "Prevention Star", Akiza prepares to attack for victory. For trying to make her think, Akiza calls Yusei a wretched foe. Yusei asks her, "If that's true, then why are you crying?" Yusei plays "Cosmic Blast" inflicting damage equal to "Stardust Dragon's" ATK to Akiza. With that, the remainder of Akiza's mask falls apart.

Yusei is astonished to see Akiza's eyes flooded with tears. She cries to Yusei to help her. In the English version, Akiza admits that she's crying after she loses the duel. The audience starts roaring at Akiza, telling her she got what she deserved. Sayer comes to Akiza's aid. He puts his coat over her shoulders and escorts her out, telling her she has done well. In the Japanese version, when Sayer gives his jacket to Akiza, he did not say anything to Yusei. In the English version, he told Yusei Akiza was not his concern and that he thinks he's done enough damage for one day. The MC declares Yusei the winner and Yusei watches Akiza as she leaves. In the end, Yusei had dialogue. In the English version, it was Akiza.

As Rally, Nervin, Blitz and Tank are locked inside a chamber. Nervin tries forcing open the door. Tank tells him to forget it. Blitz gets frustrated and recollects on how they had been captured by a group of armed men in balaclavas had approached them. Rally asks why this has happened to them.

Meanwhile at the stadium, as Akiza is escorted by Sayer her dragon birthmark is still glowing. Yusei looks at his arm, seeing his still glowing. The same happens with Luna, letting Yanagi notice she is a Signer. The marks stop glowing, but unlike before, Yusei's mark remains visible on his arm. He looks up at Goodwin's box room, where inside Jack speaks with Goodwin before his mark also starts to glow.

Yusei dashes up the steps to speak with Tanner, Yanagi, Leo, Luna and Dexter. He tells them that they must get out of here quickly. With four Signers present, he feels it is too dangerous after seeing the damage caused by two Signers dueling. Luna is still concerned about Yusei's friends, but Yusei tells her that he's going to talk with Goodwin about them. Yusei heads back down the stairs as he goes to meet Goodwin. The others then leave by going up the stairs. After they leave, they are surrounded by a group of men in suits and approached by Lazar, who informs them that they cannot allow them to vacate the premises. Tanner seizes Lazar by the collar, as he says he'll just have to get past him by force then. Lazar snickers and points out that such actions may result in bad consequences for Yusei's friends. Tanner releases Lazar, who sends them back to their seats.

Yusei dashes down a hallway, where he is interrupted by two men in suits. He quickly attacks and disposes of both men. Inside Goodwin's box room, Goodwin is speaking with Trudge, while Jack and Mina listen. Trudge recommends that Goodwin call off the tournament. Something has gotten loose into the tournament. He's not sure what it is, but people in the audience are getting injured, so it would be dangerous to proceed. Goodwin agrees that he is right, but insists that the tournament continue, since citizens have had their hearts set on it; calling off the finals would cause Sector Security to lose prestige.

Yusei interrupts, asking who gives a damn about their prestige. Trudge gets enraged with Yusei trespassing. Yusei asks Trudge, if he could excuse them, while he talks with Goodwin. Trudge seizes him, but Goodwin orders another two suited men to take him out of the room. Kicking and screaming Trudge yells back that he will crush Yusei.

Yusei brings up that Goodwin kidnapped his friends and forced him to enter the tournament. Mikage is surprised to hear this. Yusei then asks why is going through all this trouble. Jack intervenes and says that he'll answer instead. He pulls off his glove revealing his dragon birthmark, stating that to be the reason. Goodwin's goal is to gather together those who have that mark, he explains and Goodwin exploited him, by praising him as King. Goodwin questions Jack, asking was it not his desire to be a Duel King. Jack frowns replying "only as the King I desired to be".

Two years ago, Jack accepted Goodwin's invitation, but has now come to think, Goodwin was only using him to get to Yusei; Goodwin thought by dragging him out of Satellite, Yusei would soon follow. Goodwin notes that if he had watched Yusei, he could have just invited him directly. Readily Jack replies that Yusei would not have taken an invitation from any of them; That's why he used him and gave them both the chance to slip out of Satellite.

Two years ago in Satellite, Rally was being chased by a group of boys with a baseball bat. Rally falls and one them holds up the bat, ready to strike Rally, but has the bat knocked out of his hands as a card cuts through the air. Jack, threw the card, jumps down from inside an abandoned, partly destroyed building. The group begins to back away and Rally dashes behind Jack. Jack asks if they know whose field this is. The boys apologize, saying they weren't trying to start a fight with him, but Jack reveals his Duel Disk and places the "Red Dragon Archfiend" card on it. Claiming to be king around here, he'll listen to their nonsense later as Red Dragon Archfiend appears, terrifying the boys, who run away. Rally mocks them and turns back to Jack, finding he has disappeared.

Rally runs into a building, finding Jack sitting on a throne inside an empty theater, with his face masked in a shadow. He thanks Jack, who claims he was just protecting his field.Rally tells him that they've been working on Yusei's Duel Runner and are taking it for a test spin tomorrow. He asks Jack is he wants to come. Jack sits still in silence. Rally reminds that they used to be friends and tells him that they should duel together like they used to. "We're not the same" Jack responds. He and Yusei are different in goals. Rally just wants to see them both get along and states that the two of them are the hopes of Satellite. Jack remains motionless, so Rally leaves telling him to come by, if he changes his mind.

At nightfall, Jack is still inside the theater on the throne. He stands up after he hears someone come in. The intruder, Lazar, comes up to Jack from behind the throne. He tells him that he has come in behalf on the director of Sector Security, Rex Goodwin. Jack asks what Sector Security want with him. Rex feels it is necessary to have a king to rule over the city, Lazar replies. They would like to give the role of king to Jack. Lazar points his finger to Jack's arm and tells him that the dragon birthmark is the mark of a the King. He fills Jack in on how to escape to New Domino City, via the pipeline. Jack must also bring the cards "Red Dragon Archfiend" and "Stardust Dragon". He knows Jack is not in possession of the latter, but is not concerned over how Jack obtains it. He leaves Jack to consider whether he wants to be King of the slums or reign over the city as a real king. Jack thinks about this and looks up, finding Lazar to have disappeared. He hears Lazar's voice echoing back that they hope to see him in the city.

Rally approaches Jack on a rooftop, as requested. Jack tells Rally that he plans to leave this place and asks he'll need Rally's help to do it. Rally is happy to oblige and says he'd do anything for Jack.

Yusei is working on the Duel Runner, with Blitz, Tank and Nervin assisting him. Blitz wonders why Rally is late. Tank notes that he's been going in and out of Jack's place. Nervin accuses Rally of being an opportunist. Jack appears on the monitor of the Runner, telling Yusei that Rally has been kidnapped. Yusei leaps onto the Runner and speeds down the subway. Blitz, Tank and Nervin rush in the opposite direction.

Jack reappears on the monitor and tells Yusei that he knows where Rally is and to meet him at the docks. Yusei arrives at the docks and asks where Rally is. Jack points out to a boat out in the water, where Rally lies tied up. Yusei asks how this happened. Jack recollects on his meeting with Rally. Rally had said that he would do anything for Jack, afterwards Jack knocked him out and tied him up. Jack tells Yusei he got an invitation from the city. His tickets are "Red Dragon Archfiend" and Yusei's "Stardust Dragon", but Yusei also has the choice of taking both cards and going to the city. He asks Yusei which will it be. Yusei takes off his coat and dives in the water to rescue Rally. Jack picks up Yusei's Deck and takes "Stardust Dragon". He then gets on the Duel Runner and leaves for the pipeline. A wave tosses Rally off the boat. Yusei swims under water and grabs Rally. Together they surface and come back to the docks. Where Rally apologizes for what happened.

Jack finishes recollecting the story of his departure from Satellite, noting that Yusei didn't chose the card, but his friend. And he himself chose the path of a King, distinct from Yusei. None of that matters now, he says before turning to Goodwin and ordering that the hostages be released. Yusei won't run away now, he explains, and that releasing them is the least Goodwin can pay back as a reward for a clown. "If that's the King's stand on the matter, so be it.", Goodwin says. The door to Blitz, Tank, Nervin and Rally's chamber opens. They come out, finding themselves in a scrapyard and that they had been inside a large crate. They hear the MC and turn to see a monitor, airing the Fortune Cup final, amongst other discarded material. They are surprised to see that Yusei is dueling Jack and that he has a criminal mark.

Yusei pulls up to his starting position and sees his friends in the scrapyard on his monitor. The screen changes to Jack, who tells Yusei to give the Duel everything he's got.

Mina hands Jack his helmet, saying that she believes he is a true king. "As if it wasn't obvious", Jack replies before leaving to start the Duel.

Both Duel Runners are at their starting position. Part of the side ramp on the circuit, next to them has been shattered by "Black Rose Dragon" from Yusei and Akiza's Duel.

Lazar and Goodwin watch from their box room, while Sayer watches from the stadium entrance, all of whom are ready to witness the power of the Crimson Dragon.

Jack calls to Yusei telling him they should use the Duel to settle the scores and decide who has the mark of the true King. Yusei is still concerned that the Crimson Dragon may appear, which will cost both of them. Jack says that when the time comes, he will make the Crimson Dragon part of his own strength. Yusei remembers that Yanagi said there are five Signers. He wonders could the fifth Signer be somewhere around here. Jack lets Yusei, the challenger, go first and the Duel begins. As the Duel begins Jack looks at the "Speed Spell - The End of the Storm" card in his hand, thinking it will be fitting enough to settle their scores, Yusei draws "Meteor Stream" wondering if its a sign. After a few turns Jack brings out "Red Dragon Archfiend". He states that he had to crawl out of the depths of society and give up his friends and hometown, to become King, but now Yusei is trying to walk the same path without giving up anything. That he cannot allow and cannot afford to lose to Yusei.

As Yusei and Jack continue their Duel, the sky fills with dark clouds. Yanagi wonders if this could be a result of two Signers dueling. Tanner tells him to get real and concentrate on cheering for Yusei.

In Goodwin's box room, Lazar asks if there's any significance in continuing the tournament, now that they have confirmed the identity of the four Signers they were searching for and considering the concerns Trudge had for the safety of the citizens. Goodwin asks Lazar, does he not want to see the power of the Crimson Dragon. But without having all five Signers that's not possible, Lazar thinks, before suddenly turning to Goodwin and stating with shock that Goodwin is implying the fifth Signer is in the premises. He gets excited and asks "Does this mean the Crimson Dragon birthmark is complete?" Goodwin declares that they will see something interesting once the Duel is over.

Yusei Summons "Stardust Dragon". With "Stardust Dragon" and "Red Dragon Archfiend" in opposition, Jack, Luna, Akiza and Yusei's dragon birthmarks begin to glow. In Zigzix's station, he witnesses a large rise in Ener-D.

As the two dragons fight, red streams of light crashes from the sky and take of the form of the Crimson Dragon. The majority of the spectators are suprised and wonder where it came from. Yanagi, Mina and Sayer display mixed reactions of concern.

Goodwin contacts Zigzix, who is greatly excited about the surge in Ener-D. Goodwin tells him to shut down the Ener-D machine. Zigzix is upset by this and asks why; Ener-D has never been this operational before. Goodwin reminds him that its an order and if he values his life, he should comply and asks if he wishes to vanish, like Greiger's hometown. The high levels of Ener-D become more the technology at the station can handle. Thinking about what Goodwin said, Zigzix now begins to worry and orders the personal to quickly shut down Momentum.

Yusei expresses his concern about the Duel; If they continue, there's no telling what could happen. Jack replies asking if Yusei is scared and tells him that someone who fears what is laid before them is not fit to be called a duelist; If all creation scatters to pieces, Jack will continue the Duel.

With all conditions in order, Goodwin decides its time to bring the divided power of the Signers together, which will bring the Duel into another dimension. He reaches into a preservation tank, containing an arm with the dragon head birthmark. In the English version, he says that he is the fifth signer while doing this. The Crimson Dragon soars over the stadium, spreading its wings out fully.

Yusei and Jack find themselves riding on a stream of light in a strange starlit setting. The Signers, Akiza and Luna follow behind them in two red bubbles. They approach the Sky Temple, where an abundance of people bow before five others at the temple. The stream of light directs them upwards and over the temple. Jack notes that these must be the People of the Stars. Yusei looks closely at the five and sees they all have dragon birthmarks. Jack wonders if they've been transported to another time.

As they continue to travel along the stream, they see New Domino City and Satellite. A Dark Signer spider mark smashes through a number of buildings in Satellite, drawing the shape of a large spider. Jack guesses this is the future. Even while witnessing this mass destruction, Jack insists they continue the Duel. He claims since the Duel brought them there, ending it should bring them back to reality.

Yusei continues and inflicts damage to Jack's Life Points, which causes Jack to suffer actual pain. On Jack's turn he damages Yusei. Akiza and Luna notice Yusei feels real pain from that attack. Akiza wonders if this is the same as her power.

Jack plays one his famed cards "Speed Spell - The End of the Storm", forcing Yusei to Tribute "Stardust Dragon" to negate it or he'd lose the Duel. This allowed Jack to play "Sneak Exploder" which would defeat Yusei next turn. But Yusei revived "Stardust Dragon" with its effect and played "Meteor Stream" which would defeat Jack if it resolves. Recognizing this as the card responsible for Jack's defeat last time they dueled, Jack explains that his last defeat was an illusion to dramatize the fact that he is the true King. He then Chains "Crimson Fire", but Yusei chains "Shining Silver Force" negating the damage and destroying Jack's Spell and Trap Cards, including "Sneak Exploder". This allowed Yusei to begin his turn without taking the damage from "Sneak Exploder".

Yusei powers up "Stardust Dragon" with "Speed Spell - Final Attack" and attacks "Red Dragon Archfiend" winning the Duel. The players then return to reality, where Jack's Duel Runner begins to spin out of control tossing him off. "Stardust Dragon" and "Red Dragon Archfiend" are still present, but petrified. Their holograms however soon fizzle a bit before disappearing away.

Apart from Luna, none of the spectators know how the Duel went. Leo then points at the scoreboard, and Tanner, Yanagi, Leo and Dexter see Jack's Life Points are at 0. Luna calmly states Yusei won the Duel and that means he is the champion now. Up at the tower, Goodwin and Lazar have seen the end result of the Duel too and while Goodwin is unfazed at the end result, Lazar is completely shocked that Jack lost the Duel.

Yusei rushes over to Jack to see if he is alright. Jack is ashamed that he as King, lost again. Yusei explains that Jack lost by giving into his pride of trying to be King.

The MC is unsure of the situation, but Goodwin appears on a monitor next to him "What's the matter? The match is over." The MC calls out that Yusei is the winner and they have just witnessed the birth of a new King, Yusei Fudo.

In the scrapyard, Nervin, Tank, Blitz and Rally are still in the scrapyard. Nervin rattles at a TV screen, to try and pick up the signal that they lost, after the Crimson Dragon appeared. Eventually the signal returns and they see that Yusei won and is now King. Initially they stare in shock before they begin dancing in celebration.

At the Stadium, there is mixed reactions among the audience over the new King. Carly holds a camera to her face as she stutters to announce that Yusei has just beaten Jack. Angela appears, pushing Carly aside and reports the same story, although appearing much more professional, while her own cameraman films her. Carly approaches Angela to tell her off. Angela teases Carly saying she thought she was only rehearsing and pointing out that Carly hasn't changed; she still stutters. Carly's anger builds up, but Angela takes off in search of someone to interview. Carly quickly dashes to do the same.

With members of the crowd still cheering for Yusei, Jack is taken away in a stretcher. Some of the crowd start jeering at Yusei. Not trusting him for being from Satellite and having a criminal mark, they start suspect he was up to no good, resulting in Jack's injury.

Tanner, Yanagi and Leo rush to Yusei to warn him to get out, before the large crowd of reporters are let near him.

Lazar is shocked and confused over the unplanned circumstances with Jack losing and Yusei becoming the new King. he asks Goodwin if he plans letting Yusei get away with this. Goodwin responds calmly that the stars have started to move in anticipation for when they unify as one.

The reporters search around, but Yusei appears to have vanished.

Meanwhile Bolt, Dexter, Yusei, Luna, Leo and Yanagi pass through an underground tunnel, wheeling Yusei's Duel Runner alongside them. Himuro details them in on how the tunnel was made back when the stadium was being built, but nobody uses it anymore. Blister had told him about it.

While some of the gang begin to celebrate some more, over Yusei becoming King, but Bolt is suspicious that the tournament organizers are up to something, since they kidnapped Yusei's friends. Whatever the situation he feels it's best they all lay low at Blister's hideout.

Luna expresses her concern, telling Yusei that she had fully seen his Duel with Jack and saw the destruction of Satellite. Neither of them are unsure of what it was that was causing the mayhem, but Yusei feels he must stop it. Luna then asks what a Signer is anyway. Yanagi sees this as his cue and steps in to explain.

The multitude of reporters wait outside a room guarded by a number of Securities to question Goodwin. Carly tries to avoid being nervous and pulls out her Fortune Telling Deck. She draws the card "Fortune Fairy Hikari". Judging by the card, her fortune for today is "super happy" and "Straight ahead is the only way. All of your wishes will come true".

Goodwin and Lazar emerge from the room. The reporters begin to ask what happened in the Duel and what was the Crimson Dragon. Angela asks if Jack really lost; some fans aren't taking that too well. Goodwin describes the unusual behavior during the Duel as a glitch in the Solid Vision and that a report on all details of the Duel, will be given tomorrow. Angela asks what Goodwin can tell them about Yusei. Goodwin replies that all he knows is that he was born in Satellite.

Carly is unable to get noticed due to her position in the crowd, so she drops to the floor and crawls forward keeping in mind her fortune from the card. She pops up in front of Angela, cutting off her question, as she surfaces. Carly mentions to Goodwin how it looked like Yusei's arm was glowing after the Crimson Dragon appeared and asks if that was of any significance. Goodwin is put off by the question, but replies that 'perhaps the sheen of Yusei's Duel Runner' was reflecting the sunlight into Carly's eyes, but she remains adamant about what she saw. Angela pulls Carly aside to tell her off for asking off topic questions.

Lazar alerts the crowd, that they shall now end all questioning. The Securities hold the crowd to the sides while Goodwin and Lazar pass. Goodwin glares at Carly as he passes her.

With neither Yusei or Goodwin available for interviewing, the reporters leave for Jack. Carly chases after them remembering straight ahead is the only way for her, but she slips and falls back, losing her shoe in the process.

While in her car, which is on auto-pilot, Carly is contacted by her chief, who is not pleased over her failure to interview Yusei. He tells her to get her ass in gear or she's fired, but Carly promises she'll get a scoop and tells him to keep the front page open.

Carly watches over a clip of Yusei, just before the Crimson Dragon appears and spots the birthmark glowing on his arm. She deduces that Goodwin was playing dumb and there is a connection between to the glowing arm and the Crimson Dragon.

Her radar then picks up the signal of a Duel Disk. Looking to her left she sees a group of people watching a Duel in a yard. She comments that there are many stars in the streets that don't get rewarded; just like her; but she won't go back on the streets, since she won't let this chance slip. But her engine stalls.

A group of 3 Dark Signers sit together in a dimly lit room, illuminated only by a candlestick. With the Signers gathered together after 5000 years, they may begin their battle. The leader opens his hand, setting two spiders free, which climb onto a chandelier.

At Blister's hideout, Yanagi sketches a picture of the Crimson Dragon curled up for Yusei, Luna, Leo and Bolt. Yusei and Luna compare their birthmarks to parts of the dragon. Yanagi explains how the head, wings, claws and tail of the Crimson Dragon, were split up and sealed in the Signers as birthmarks. Bolt points out that they only know of four Signers, Yusei, Luna, Jack and Akiza, yet the Crimson Dragon showed up. Yanagi continues that the fifth Signer must have been nearby.

Luna suddenly passes out after Leo checks himself for a birthmark, but finds nothing. Yanagi catches her and the others rush over. She immediately wakes up and insists that she's fine, and just a little tired.

Mina paces around outside Jack's room at the hospital. Meanwhile outside a number of reporters are refused entry as no visitors are allowed. Carly stops next to them in her car, but then drives on reciting that straight ahead is the only way for her.

Three Dark Signers stand on a monument in front of a small crowd of spectators. They preach that the Crimson Dragon has appeared to spread despair across the land in search of crimson blood; they invite the crowd to join them to stop the Crimson Dragon. Small spiders descend on silk strings onto a number of the watchers from a large spider web above them.

At Blister's hideout, Yusei's arm begins to throb, but unlike before. This time it feels like it's gouging into him. He walks over to the window and spots a cloaked man with a glowing purple birthmark, similar to the spider that tore up Satellite. Assuming him to be a Signer, Yusei rushes out to him. The man flees down an alley, leading Yusei to a car park. Yusei asks him what's going to happen to Satellite. The cloaked figure imposes a Shadow Duel. Yusei accepts, hoping he can use it to get info out of him. The two players are surrounded by a circular wall of purple light.

Carly picks up a strong reading on her Duel Radar in her car, she spots the light in the car park, where Yusei and the Dark Signer are dueling.

As Yusei continues the Duel, he notices the cards are inflicting real damage, just like Akiza's powers. Yusei's opponent brings out a Dark Tuner monster and surprises Yusei as he performs a Dark Synchro Summon and Summons a monster with a negative Level, "Frozen Fitzgerald".

Carly gets out of her car and leaps over a fence before dashing into the car park in the direction of the Duel.

Difference from Anime Versions

• In the Japanese version, the class system between the upper class residents New Domino City and the often rejected residents of the Satellite is a recurring theme throughout the series. While the class system exists in the English version, it is not as severe and much less emphasized. Some dialogue referring to the class system such as "Satellite scum" is replaced.
• Nerve and Blitz also had their names switched, so now they are Blitz and Nervin respectively.
• The English version adds a card explanation when a certain card is played during a duel, usually once an episode and mostly only about what is obvious to the viewer (ATK, DEF, Level and Attribute). It displays the card's ATK and DEF, type, attribute and effect (if it's a monster). With Spells, Speed Spells, and Traps, it just explains their effect.
• In the English version changes have been made to character names and personalities. Certain scenes and images have been altered and removed as well. The show's darker content also has been changed in order to give the show a more Western younger feel and make the show more marketable across non-English countries.
• Terms like "Riding Duel" and "D-Wheel" have been replaced on the dub for "Turbo Duel" and "Duel Runner", respectively.
• The original music and sound effects are completely replaced in the English version. Much of the 4Kids dub sound effects are made from the original Japanese sound effects or are made sounding like the sound effects from the original Japanese version, though much quieter. But this is the first of the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime dubs to have some of the sound effects from the original Japanese version used along with the music completely replaced.
• Things such as nudity, religions, blood, weapons, killing, and death are censored in the English version.
• Life Points, ATK, DEF, and Level meters are redesigned in the English version.
• Due to FCC regulations as well as to make the show more marketable to non-English speaking countries and even for the purposes of cultural streamlining, intended to make the show more understandable or palatable to Western audiences, instances of Japanese and English text are airbrushed out, blurred or replaced with horizontal lines, odd-shapes, and other meaningless symbols in the English version. Not only that but this is the first of 4Kids anime adaptations to ever show Japanese and English changed to languages similar to Latin. The text on the Duel Runners are edited out or replaced with some kinds of symbols. When the players' Life Points reach 0, the screens on the Duel Runners have the word "DEFEAT" replaced with a big X.
• The show is one of 4Kids' anime dubs to still be close captioned by the National Captioning Institute.
• The English version excluded episodes 36-41 from their original television run; however, 4Kids has since put the missing episodes on the 4Kids website. The television broadcast continued from episode 42 onwards.
• According to the 4Kids' website, the second season (Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's: Road to Destiny) is set to air on September 18, 2010 on Toonzai. It will air two new episodes every Saturday after that. The first season of the dub returned to the CW4Kids on May 29, 2010 at the 11:00 AM block. On August 7, 2010, the CW4Kids aired the first season finale. On Saturday, August 14, 2010, 4Kids showed reruns of the first season beginning with Yusei's second duel with Dark Signer Kalin and ending with the first-season finale once more on the same date as the premiere of "Road to Destiny". However, the 11:00 AM slot was replaced by the original Yu-Gi-Oh! anime, and now only one new episode airs at 11:30.
• In the current fall line-up, Toonzai!, a name given by 4Kids to emphasize the fact the majority of its current running shows are anime series, began airing the new season of Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's: Road to Destiny on September 18, 2010.
• 4Kids has decided to skip Episode 85 and has confirmed that on November 27, it will go straight towards the Crashtown arc after episode 84 airs in English. However, Episode 85 aired later on February 5, 2011, after being put up on Hulu, Toonzaki, and the 4Kids website.
• On June 18th, 2011, 4Kids has decided to skip Episodes 111 to 122. It will go straight to the episode where Team 5D's and Team Ragnarok meet each other for the first time. However, Subtitled versions of the skipped episodes are being posted on the Toonzai website.
• On September 10th, 2011 episodes 135 & 136 were merged into a one hour episode, which aired on Toonzai. However, the ending was edited so that after Aporia lost, the Divine Temple disappeared from existence. As a result, the special one hour episode ended with the celebration of Team 5D's victory as the series finale. The last season was not dubbed, leaving the series incomplete just like how the previous series was also left incomplete. According to the Toonzaki webmaster, they ended the series like this due to "low ratings".

Difference Between Anime and Manga

• In the manga, Yusei takes care of a kid name Sect. But in the anime, Sect doesn't exist.
• In the manga, Jack and Kalin are foster brothers. While Yusei and Crow are Jack's enemies. But in the anime, Yusei and Crow are Jack's foster brothers. Whereas Kalin is Jack's enemy.
• In the manga, Ancient Fairy Dragon is completely evil. But in the anime, she is completely nice instead.
• In the manga, Ancient Fairy Dragon controls Luna. But in the anime, she doesn't control Luna at all.
• In the manga, Akiza's rival is Sherry. But in the anime, the two are not rivals at all.
• In the manga, every duelist stares angrily at Jack when he calls them all trash. But in the anime, everyone is either in the audience or in a different room when Jack makes his speech.
